I just reinstalled LFS, and when i grab a list of servers, there are always
0 people playing. All the servers are empty. But on lfsworld.com, its says
racers online: 300. What gives?

you might want to install the latest patch, too if you haven't done
so. I think there were several changes in servers and protocol code.

All the best,

You know, I never lost interest in a nice product as fast as I did with LFS.

The Product Activation and the installation mess really turned me off.
I've thought about reinstalling it, but since it doesn't just use a
'key', I have to figure out what to do and I really don't have time to
mess with it.

something like:

Yeah, it's such a mess. No wonder there aren't any servers online. No,
wait, there are loads of servers online. Who would've thought.

Your loss.

I sort of agree, but I must admit I lost my login details a while ago and
haven't bothered sorting LFS out since I upgraded my PC and reinstalled
XP. The activation system and *especially* having to re-earn your credits
is a pain in the neck. I've done that with one upgrade already and this
time... just couldn't be bothered. So it's easier to play GPL, N2003,
or RBR instead, none of which require me to jump through hoops for my
entertainment :-)

I'll probably sort it out when S2's released though, because with damage
it'll finally be worth racing online.

Won't help you with earning points (you should be able to carry these
over anyway) but patch H no longer requires you to put the long code in,
you just need your login name & PW now.

Whether it's worth the effort is subjective, I think it is.

IIRC you can just copy/paste the code. No need to type if you have it
on your computer.

like:

It's also easier to use illegal copies of GPL, N2003 and RBR. The LFS
method seems to be rather airtight in this respect. And IMO that's a
good thing.

BTW, it's possible to copy your LFS directory to another partition (or
to a CD) when you make an OS reinstall, and then copy it back when
you're done. You may need a new key (not sure about this), but atleast
you won't lose your hard earned points.
