Nascar 3 Freeze Up

by n1asca » Tue, 27 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hello,
I'm have been runnig N3 for the last year or so with the following:

Monster Fusion Banshee PCI video card (16mg)
Abit BX6 REV.2
Celeron 300a O'clocked to 450mz
64 mg ram
All up to date drivers

The game has always run fine.

Just recently i have changed chips. I'm now running:

Celeron 533 O'clocked to 800mz

everthing else is the same except i had to update my motherboard bios.
I have no temp problem and really no other problems except now N3 locks up
after awhile. The game is running at a solid 30 fps when it locks up and
when i reboot the temp is still OK , So i don't think it is a heating
problem. I have also tried it at 533mz and still get same results.

Also when the game locks up the sound and the game is still running (because
i can hear my car crash) but the screen is frozen.
Any help would be apprecated.
Thanks
Kris

If you O/C'd it.... am I to assume that you upped the bus-speed (front side
bus speed).

It may be a fact that your vid card is not liking to run at that bus-speed.

Not a CPU thing... sounds like a VC thing to me...

but I could be wrong...

Cheers,

Schumi

i agree it is probally a Video thing, BUT i was already running at a
higher FSB when i had my orginal 300 a O'clocked to 450mhz. Anyone have
any other thoughts.

I've got the exact same thing happening to me; however, I've made no changes to
my system other than adding a Guillemot FF Wheel *and* recently added the N3
patch.  I'm sure I don't have any O/C or video problems because the game has
run fine for almost a year.  I'm just starting to see if the Wheel software is
screwing it up and if not, I'll go back to the non-patched N3 to see if it
clears up.  If you find any other info, please let me know.

Thanks,
Chris

The Guillemot wheel profiler software locks up N3 (and almost every other
racing title in the market).  Try dumping it first if you are using it.

Marc.
