GPL Questions!

by Ryan Murra » Mon, 18 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Ok, I have had GPL for about 3 weeks now and I have been itching to do some
real racing, so I went to VROC and GPLSL (which works great). Now I have
been skimming around looking for editing files and the such, and these two
questions came up.

How do I change the length of a race being hosted? I like the Pro distance,
but want to make it an itch longer...or have the novice be as long as the
Pro....

Which files and what on them should I change?

Also, the replay length. I was racing at Watkins Glen and made an incredible
pass on the first lap and seventh lap, but my replay only caught the final
two laps. Damn.

How do I change the length of the replay buffer? I know it depends on system
specs, so here are mine.

AMD-K6 -2/ 300 Processor with 3dNow! Technology
Diamond Monster 3d II 12 MB Accelerator
100 Mhz Front Side Bus
64Mb SyncDRAM/256 Mb Maximum
6Gb hardrive
512Kb L2 Pipeline Burst Cache
2 MB SyncGraphics Memory

Now that comes right off the sticker onthe front of the tower...so any help
would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Ryan Patrick Murray

GPL Server Locator. It works in a similar way as VROC, except you
don't need to use any specific browser - so you don't have to have
Netscape running in the background while playing GPL online, nor,
indeed, any browser.

It's still in beta at this stage, but is working very well.

There's a web page by its creator, Dean Williams, at
http://surrey.quik.com/dwilliam/gplonlin.html

And the software can be downloaded from
