A while ago I asked the group for advice on Screamer Rally locking up.
I'm hoping for a greater response on this occassion.

The machine has now been upgraded to a PII 350, plus 3Dfx, (i.e. far in
excess of the minimum requirement) and yet Screamer Rally STILL hangs
up-
Usually towards the end of a championship. Booting in DOS mode
will the appropriate config.sys and autoexec only makes the lock up
more likely.

The machine has a S3 Virge card and a Righteous 3D. Is the game
simply beneath this group due to its Arcade style feel (although
similar games have been discuss) or is it simply that no-one else
has experienced the trouble?

The game locked up with a Voodoo 1, and so it does with a V2 on my
Celeron 333. I got it some months ago from a compilation and was
rather disappointed by gameplay and graphics - the NFS2 SE, which was
AFAIR released at the same time, is still a lot of fun and looks much
prettier.

One way to reduce the number of crashes seems to be to switch
damage off. But don't depend on it.

The trouble with NFS IISE (and NFS III to a lesser extent)
is that the handling is hopelessly unrealistic and doesn't
alter from car to car. For example, the cars always
understeer even if you set it up to provoke oversteer.

Graphically -it's excellent. But its a bit frustrating.
