Actually... pitstops aren't modelled in the final version of GPL (who is out
in store by tomorrow). Back in the 1967 era, pitstops were quite rare, since
the cars had enough fuel to run a full GrandPrix and tires that would easily
stay for a whole weekend of racing.

Still, I didn't say pitstop were inexistant ;-)  Papyrus just didn't found
important to model them, mostly because a pitstop was at 99.9% of the time
meaning you quitted the race or you were heading for a long multiple lap
repair that took you off any chances of podium/points.

In easy modes of GPL, you can still repair damage to your car with the
Shift-R setting while racing.. but there is consequences to that (cold tires
and full fuel). As for changes to the car, GPL has an incredibly well
detailled setup menu that is pretty more complex than any other Papyrus
titles (ex: Nascar2). You can race 19 AI cars in the final version, as it
was the maximum of drivers allowed I think per race at that time.

There is tons of new additions to the final version.. they are too long to
really say all of those in 1 post ;-)  .

I have one question. Way back when, when Papy released the original GPL demo,
all you had in it was 3 choices of car, the GrandPrix, and two others that
were supposed to be "easy" to drive, and not as fast. Also, the only track
there was, was the Watkins Glen track, and all you could do there was run
around the track, by yourself, no pitting to change tires, no changing the
setup, nothing. I am not a huge GrandPrix/Cart/IRL/F1 fan, my racing tends to
stick to just NASCAR and other NASCAR type racing (ARCA/Outlaw/etc) so my
knowledge of the sport is some what limitied (IE- what you can and can not do
durning a pit stop, or if you are even allowed to make changes to the car).
The question is this. Can you do more with the new version of the GPL demo?
IE- Can you now race other cars, pit stop, any thing? Forgive my ignorance,
but I haven't touched the demo since it first came out so many months ago. I
managed to flip the car upsidedown a couple of times, and had a good laugh. It
also got me extremly e***d in waiting for NASCAR2000 (NASCAR3). If you can
do more with GPL now, I would really like to know. The game seems rather
awsome, but I find it to be extremly boring to just run around in circles
without being able to touch the car, or even run against other cars in a
practice mode. Any knew info my way would be great. Thanks guys :)

I beg to differ.  I keep hearing that pitstops were quite rare.  While
planned pitstops were rare, from all accounts I have read there were
plenty of pitstops for this and that.  Sometimes things got fixed and
they were able to re-join the race (and even win on some occasions).
Let's just be honest and say that Papyrus didn't model pitstops during
a race and leave it at that. (As you more or less say in the following:)
