HELP with CD

by Stingr » Sun, 04 Mar 2001 00:59:34

I sure hope somewhere there is a way around this, because I have 2 -
$50.00 games and 2 kids who like to play on the computer, HENCE I have
already lost a copy of TOMBRAIDER 4 due to that inevitable scratch that
comes from poor handling of the discs.  Now you Single people will say spank
the little (expletive delete) but what good does that do me when it is after
the fact.  I only have 2 games right now I cant make a copy of (er couldn't
do it anyway) TOMB 4, and Nascar4.  The older PAPY games were safe because
the CD stayed out of sight (in the box in storage).  Can anyone tell me if
my
Yamaha cdrw44416 (4x4x16) scsi drive will do these RAW copies or not?

I never heard of Clone cd before, I could try it.  Anyone know of a list or
information so I could check some computers at work and see if they support
RAW? if Mine doesn't?  (3 Gateways and 1 Dell have IDE cdrw's all less than
5
months old systems)

I am not going to sell or give disc's away, I just don't want my new disc
ruined like the 10 or so here in a pile that wont read...  ("READER RABBIT
is now a coaster honey, I'm sorry...!")

you can reply to me, instead of posting if you wish...

thanks!

here is the clonecd official hardware compatibility list:
http://www.elby.de/CloneCD/english/clonecd_faq.htm

I don't know how similar they are, but i have had zero problems copying
discs via clonecd with my Yamaha 8x IDE burner.

Most game companies will gladly replace a dysfunctional scratched CD if you
return it to them.  Since you can't use it anyway...

Marc.
