Interesting how the demo release barely caused a blip here. It actually
is pretty fun, great idea, if it had come off any better it may have
lasted longer than one day on my system.

Posted my thoughts on TOCA2 on this NG some days ago. I thought it was
disappointing. Perhaps I have become accustomed to the quality of the
graphics and realism in GPL. TOCA2 just seems to cartoony and those spinouts
are too much.

I'll probably save my money, bypass the game and just wait for Alpha Centuri
I suppose.

I can't believe you guys can say that?

I dont know any other racing sim that i have found more enjoyable for a long
time, not since F1GP2 (nothing touches this yet!) anyway.

I think the graphics are great, much better than the original version. What
resolutions are you running in? At 1024x768, with 3dfx and all detail turned
up, i think that the cars are greatly detailed. What about the drivers
working away inside the car?

Anyway graphics arent everything. I think it is greatly exciting racing.

And this is only the demo!

I do see what you mean about the spins however, especially on the first
corner at Croft! There seems to be a pile up every time, but then again this
is the BTCC!

Ah oh well why am I replying ? Why should I care about him... heh well.. Im
sure "you" know better than us, us being some people with past racing
experience, or who currently are real-life racecar drivers.  Better than us,
us who have seen at least 100+ titles in the history of r.a.s., with well
know beta testers, or related anykind with virtual racing experience.

Oh and btw, do they actually plan to ship Toca2 before 2005 in the US ? I
mean, there's no excuse with today's globalisation to NOT be able to ship
the title soon enough in the US.  And don't say business terms, I know that
it's false. Ship the Gold CD, locate a printer and do the same
warehouse/store business like you do in the rest of the world. Money is not
a factor here.  No wonder Codemasters titles are alot warezed.  What if
somebody is really a college professor ? 1 million copies ? Oh yeah you
should had said "_Including the PSX versions_".

<SNIP>

You sure do talk confusingly! I am not even sure if you are FOR or AGAINST
TOCA2?

And as for your comments about racing experience, DO you have any? Cause I
DO! I have raced in SCCA from 1974 till 1987 when I quit. But now I am back
at it again. And if you know your GT Racing, you'd know who PD Cunningham
is, and we used to race together back in the Midwest (and I used to beat him
back then). I had raced at Blackhawk Farms, Road America, IRP (the other
one), WISC State Fair Park, Grattan, Detroit Westin Center, Rockford
Speedway, Lake Geneva Speedway, and was even lucky enough to have raced on
the long missed Riverside track. I have been in numerous Triumphs (Spit &
GT6), 2 Lotus Europa's, Cortina GT, RX7, and a few others.

And when I was NOT racing, I was a Paddoch Marshal as well as a Course
Marshal in SCCA and so worked at the tracks as well.

So, for me, I think TOCA2 is WAY MORE FUN than NASCAR or GPL, and I get more
pumped up with TOAC2 or Viper than GPL, and way more than NASCAR. But then,
except for the 2 Europa's which were kinda like a larger formula car, my
racing has been in sports cars, and so that is where my taste is. But next
to TOCA2 (seeing as there IS a demo of it to get a taste for what's coming),
I can't WAIT for the new Pro Sports Car Racing game soon to come!!!

I think Codemaster REALLY needs to decide if they're going to do a proper
sim or an arcade game.I was looking forward to this after being disappointed
with TOCA 1 and hearing they were concentrating on it being realistic.Colin
McRae suffered from the same problems.Come on Codemasters if I want an
arcade game I'd have bought a playstation.

I couldn't agree more.  Toca 2 could have been and should have been much
more of a SIM than Toca 1 but unfortunately hasn't turned out that way.
It's a shame.  That said, more than enough people will enjoy the game and
why shoudn't they?  Each to their own.

Then again, you never know what changes they may make for the "proper"
release.

Craig.

Both.  Im never against a title, unless it's from Ubisoft (inside joke hee
hee)

I just don't understand the guy's point of view. Most of us downloaded the
demo, and after did a quick review of the demo on r.a.s.  After we moved
along to other stuff.  Nobody was harsh on the software. Couple of bad
points, little slap on their fingers in terms of the physic realism and
canned physics.  Some praises also.

Of course I do have racing experience.  I was a driver in a private Volvo
Touring series at Mont-Tremblant made by Volvo of Canada, a series that was
raced by each Volvo concession (sp?) in the East of Canada.

It's your opinion.  I respect that.  But what you said is way different from
the guy who wrote "You people are a bunch of morons that talks like
University professors".  Now this is offensive, compared to your opinion.

Btw, SportsCar GT will be very very very interesting, especially if they
tweak their online multiplayer racing capabilities to the level of at least
GPL, to create a good online endurance racing series.  But I don't expect
near the quality of the NROS.

And Toca2 is out on the PSX, btw ;-)

I wonder, as you got me thinking about the online endurance racing, . . . .
what ever happened to that LeMans game that was supposed to come out awhile
ago? It was supposed to even have an online version of it for the FULL 24
hours, and even supposedly allow driver changes too!

If I remember correctly it was a arcade style title that never went past
beta stages of development. At the end it was for the N64 only I think.
