When something happens like todays tragedy at Daytona I can't help thinking
we are just playing games on our computers while there are REAL people out
there doing this for real and getting hurt and sometimes killed .

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Dale Earnhardt.

After all the wrecks I keep getting into in the sim, I
have the utmost respect for these drivers and their ability to
keep the car going where they want it to at 190 MPH
without clipping the guys running 3-4 wide with them.
I'd be a nervous wreck (no pun intended) after one of
these races.  Yet sooner or later someone makes a little
mistake (inevitable when running this close) which turns
into a big mess.
We will miss you Dale.  Peace.

I had almost the exact same accident playing N3. Car clipped me, I
shot up into the wall head first - and swore and yelled, then turned
off the computer and went to bed.

I respect these guys so much - even the ones I don't like, even the
ones who I don't think belong in the top levels of motor sport - they
are taking a huge risk, and even the very best can be snuffed out
(sorry) because of a small, insignificant, nothing mistake.

It just ***ing sux.

But.... i'll be watching next week, and they'll be racing. The show
must go on, and I doubt Dale (or Ayrton, Jimmy, any of the other late
greats) would have it any other way.
