This is a quibble because I'm loving the game, but I'm noticing that
the track graphics are pretty nice, but the cockpit takes away from
the proceedings. I don't even care that the gauges aren't functional
(and backwards in the Turbo), but it'd be nice if the wheel didn't
look like something from a Wal-Mart lawn tractor.
How hard is it to make a nice looking dash and wheel for the demo?
Nothing fancy, even something like Vipers wheel would be fine.

Put it this way... at least we can see out the window (unlike first Race
Driver demo). ;-))
Dials are mirrored according to driver position(LHD/RHD), so they should
either be all good or all wrong. Haven't actually checked... I look where
I'm going while driving.<g>
Seriously, shows the difference in priorities between different simmers,
doesn't it?
Jan./kinda likes the LFS cockpit "as is".

the drivers arms for example. This is just an early demo, we cant expect it
to be like a retail version yet. Wait a year :)

the cockpit view.
After all, in the real world you dont see another set of arms and a wheel in
front of your real arms and wheel, do you, unless of course you have been
naughty and had just one too many Bourbans.
Just Wondering :-)
P.S. Why am I always on here talking about Bourbon?

i dont look at the wheel while driving anyway, so it doesnt bother me. Its
fun for the replays anyway.

You may have noticed the range of motion of the wheel in the game is
different from the controller's so the arms and wheel offer feedback on how
much it's been turned. Secondly, not everyone has the desk real-estate to
have their monitor behind their wheel, i.e. their wheel may not be in their
line of sight. Other's simply can't get their head around the warped scaling
which sometimes results from using your wheel as part of the cockpit.
Anyhow, as long as some want them on and some want them off, it should
remain a user selectable option, IMO. Why should the developer decide for
you? -That would just as lame as taking the player's weapons away to stop
him/her completing a first person shooter too quickly. Still can't believe
even Valve stooped that low in Half Life, BTW.

Bourbon is good stuff, and should be promoted. ;-)

You definitely misunderstand my comments if you think it's a
"priority" for me. I said it was a quibble.
I'm not even suggesting that the LFS crew do the mod, more like a
community mod. When SCGT came out, a lot of nice dashes were released
shortly thereafter. I wondered if it's an easy mod for LFS.
I think it'd make a great demo even more immersive.

For what it's worth, I'm with you on this one. In NFS:Porsche for example,
I preferred to drive in the lambasted "bumper view" as opposed to the
cockpit. With cockpit, It feels like I'm in the backseat of the car,
pretending to drive while watching the actual driver drive in front of me.
Interestingly, in open wheel games like GPL and F1 2001/2002, the
wheel/arms don't bug me.
