Just anticipating picking up my new PC - not cutting edge but fantastic bang for buck - I'm all giddy :-) Current: Nasty Compaq Deskpro EN P3 866 32Mb GF2 MX PCI 512Mb SDRAM SBLive Value New: XP 1800 128Mb GF4 Ti4200 256Mb DDR RAM SBLive Value (out of above) Can't remember MB, but box blurb has a recommendation from Tom's Hardware. I'll be installing Win98SE. I just tried the settings I hope to run in N2K2 on the current machine which gives me circa 12fps at Daytona (down to 5-7fps in reply mode when busy): 1024x768 Full field running Full field drawn ahead, 6 behind. 3D sound. Minimum sounds heard 60ish percent draw distance Full detail cars Full detail world Medium detail mirror Shadows Refections ON (love that particular eye candy) Lightmaps on. I'm happy with 16bit and not bothered about AA (don't miss what you don't have) What d'you reckon I'll get? FWIW, my current 3DMark Score is 1960 Cheers, Mark Reading, UK
I got a simular system: Athlon XP 1800 GF4 Ti 4200 - 64 MB My 3DMARK2001 SE: 9500 So compared to your current score of 1960, I'm sure the improvement will be nothing less than stunning ;-)) "Mark Davison" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:agfk99$dvu$[email hidden]... > Just anticipating picking up my new PC - not cutting edge but fantasticbang
