Hi I'm after a bit of advice from the assembled masses here... After only GPL racing on-line using an analogue modem for ages, and now (finally) getting a cable internet connection (512kb download/128kb upload) I can now host a few GPL (Grand Prix Legends) races. However, sometimes, (not always) when hosting GPL races on my pc using the cable internet connection, my pc seems to lock up after random amounts of time, and the pc reboots itself. This behavious does not happen with any other program, or when I am racing GPL off line, or when I am racing on-line (but not hosting). I am therefore assuming it has something to do with the way my pc/GPL is set-up to host races? I wondered if some kind person would check out my core.ini file and server.ini file and make any comments that may be necessary? (Or point out any other settings that may need to be changed in any other file). For your info I have an AMD Duron 650 (overclocked to 900) on an Asus A7V m/b with 256 PC133 memory, I've also got a Voodoo3 2000 AGP card and I'm using Win98SE. I'm using NTL cable internet service in the UK. I have GPL v1.2 (patched) and the latest version of WinVROC. ======================== My core.ini is as follows: [ CLIENT ] to_ip = ; Connect to IP address via_ip = ; Connect via IP address [ Communications ] alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1 show_meters = 0 clock_adj_delay = 4 ; How often may client adjust clock? disable_ipx = 0 ; Disable IPX support disable_modem = 1 ; Don't look for/use modems disable_network = 0 ; Disable network support disable_tcp_ip = 0 ; Disable TCP/IP support ignore_net_read_errors = 1 ; Don't disco if error reading pkt ignore_net_send_errors = 1 ; Don't disco if error sending pkt ip_addr_lookup_timeout = 2 ; Timeout to find own IP address log_server_comm_errors = 0 ; Log errors for client channels? log_server_connect_status = 0 ; Issue messages as clients connect mem_client_send_every = 1 ; Client packet freq via memory mem_client_send_size = 276 ; Client packet size via memory mem_server_send_every = 1 ; Server packet freq via memory mem_server_send_size = 516 ; Server packet size via memory net_lan_client_send_every = 2 ; Client packet freq on LAN net_lan_client_send_size = 132 ; Client packet size on LAN net_lan_server_send_every = 2 ; Server packet freq on LAN net_lan_server_send_size = 388 ; Server packet size on LAN net_mdm_client_send_every = 3 ; Client packet freq on dialup net_mdm_client_send_size = 84 ; Client packet size on dialup net_mdm_server_send_every = 3 ; Server packet freq on dialup net_mdm_server_send_size = 84 ; Server packet size on dialup net_server_port = 0 ; Server port number (0 = default) net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip = 0 ; Use modem bandwidthfor TCP/IP [ Hack ] steer_ratio = 1 ; Enable low speed ratio override [ Joy ] allow_force_feedback = 0 ; Use FF if device has it force_feedback_damping = 40.000000 ; force feedback damping coefficient force_feedback_latency = 0.085000 ; force feedback latency (secs) max_steering_torque = 225.000000 ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force [ Rasterizer ] fullScreen = 1 ; run Full Screen? The only difference i can see with mine in the [Communications] section is, net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=1 ; Use modem bandwidth for TCP/IP Sid. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:aa199p$dbd$[email hidden]...

What does that setting actually do? Sid Chapple wrote: > The only difference i can see with mine in the [Communications] section is, > net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=1 ; Use modem bandwidth for TCP/IP > Sid.
