The physics seem pretty damn nice from the video. The graphics and sound were both very impressive. My only concern is not seeing a cock pit view yet. The hood/bonnet view is decent but I really want to see a dashboard. -- Joe Marques "Alessandro Pollini" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > http://www.racesim.net > > Video : > http://www.racesim.net/leadersnc/MGZS.zip > > Screenshots : > > http://www.racesim.net/images/8.jpg > http://www.racesim.net/images/14.jpg > http://www.racesim.net/images/22.jpg > http://www.racesim.net/images/23.jpg > http://www.racesim.net/images/91.jpg > http://www.racesim.net/images/95.jpg > > Other Screenshots here : > > http://www.spiele-city.net/previews.php?action=view&id=DTMRaceDriver > > > > -- > Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG

Combined with the smoothness of the edge of the banner - very suspect. > http://www.racesim.net/images/91.jpgDepth of field again. > http://www.racesim.net/images/95.jpgAnd again I wouldnt be supprised if most are rendered in 3DS Max - and are NOT in game shots. Very very deceitfull of Codemasters imho as these are not branded with a "not in game shot" logo Doug
Can't open the zip file for the video, the file is apparently corrupted... Alessandro Pollini wrote:

I disagree. I admit I am not familiar with 3DS Max capabilities, but I don't see anything in those screenshots that can't be done on a DX8 compatible card like a GF3 or a Radeon 8500. in game > shots. You might be right, but I honestly don't think so. I have been playing a lot of different games on my Xbox lately, which has a GF3 level video chip and has games which take full advantage of it. It is truly amazing how graphically detailed those games are, and how much it looks like CGI at times. That's just how far hardware has come.
Download it again. It worked for me. -- Joe Marques "Philster" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Can't open the zip file for the video, the file is apparently > corrupted... > > Alessandro Pollini wrote: > > > > http://www.racesim.net > > > > Video : > > http://www.racesim.net/leadersnc/MGZS.zip > > > > Screenshots : > > > > http://www.racesim.net/images/8.jpg > > http://www.racesim.net/images/14.jpg > > http://www.racesim.net/images/22.jpg > > http://www.racesim.net/images/23.jpg > > http://www.racesim.net/images/91.jpg > > http://www.racesim.net/images/95.jpg > > > > Other Screenshots here : > > > > http://www.spiele-city.net/previews.php?action=view&id=DTMRaceDriver > > > > -- > > Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG > > -- > Philippe "Philster" Sergerie >

You think a gfx card can do Depth of field like that? You're wierd. They're renders. Also - explain why some of the scenerey graphics appear antialiased - yet the cars do not. Doug

I assume you are referring to the way things get more softly focused as depth increases. Yes a DX8 graphics card can do that with pixel shaders. I have seen it done with Xbox games and it should be possible on an appropriately equipped PC also. > You're wierd. Maybe, but what does that have to do with it? ;o) > They're renders. > > Also - explain why some of the scenerey graphics appear antialiased -yet > the cars do not. > Shaders again. Check out some screenshots for Dead or Alive 3 or Project Gotham Racing for the Xbox to see some of these effects in action. Or take a look at the Developer sections at ATI or nVIDIA's web sites. Also check out this link: http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/corpevents/meltdown2001/session.asp and scroll down towards the end of the page, they specifically mention depth of field as one of the effects that are possible. The graphics world is getting very exciting, and it will really be revolutionary when all of this stuff becomes readily available on PC's.
Funny how in the video they say that the new graphics engine has eliminated pop-up, and yet there are lots of cases of scenery drawing in quite close. "Alessandro Pollini" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

I believe they said that there are still working on the tracks, and the eliminating of the pop-ups is something they will work on.. Andre

You're right. I was listening at low volume at the office and didn't quite catch the subtle difference. I thought they were saying that pop-ups are history, but they actually say that they are still working heavily on the track graphics, and pop-ups should be history once they are done. Guess I'm still not 100% fluent! Stephen
