If you gave a GF3 and disappointed with the frame rates with N2002, don't
buy a GF4 4600 if you think that will solve the problem. IT WONT. Eric
Busch owes me 400 bucks because of his commentary on the subject. Oh well,
live and learn.
It also appears no one at Papy ran a Championship season. Based on what I
know, you can't get past Rockingham.
Well, I guess you don't know everything. Champ season works fine here, and
according to other posts to your original message, it works fine for others
as well.
You keep saying you don't have a Save option when the race is over. That is
by design. You can only Save before the end of the race. All you're saving
is your qualifying session. When the race is over, you'll be in the Info
screen. Both Export and Save are greyed out. If you want to export your
results, click the Standings tab. You should see a green Done button on the
right hand portion of your screen. Click that and it brings up the Racing
News screen. Hit Esc or Enter, and it takes you to the next race in the
season.
I've gone through Daytona, No. Carolina and Las Vegas. Has worked fine.

What processor do you have? Seems like you should be getting SOME framerate
increase. Also what OS, RAM, HD (size and RPM) and how long has it been
since you last formatted. I don't think that Eric is the one to blame. Your
problem with the championship mode also seems to be your own, since others
would have complained by now if there was a problem.

If you're CPU limited, I could've told you that a 4600 won't save you.

Why not? Does the game lock up?

No it doesn't lock up. But under certain conditions, you run the Daytona
race (or maybe any race - I don't know because haven't gotten past Daytona),
go to the pits with everyone else after the checkered flag, press ESC and
get out of the car, and you're back in the Race Selection screen, like you
never ran the race. No results showing, and you can't advance to the next
race (Rockingham).
It happened to me twice. From reading old posts, it seems that if you save
a qualifying run, exit the game, and then restart it and reload the saved
run, that's when you'll have the problem.
The workaround I think is to not save the qualifying run, but just go
through the race weekend in a single session. Papy's tech support is quiet
so far on this one - I've sent in a bug report, but have received no reply
yet other than the automated acknowledgement.

Out of curiosity, does it happen even with a shorter race(say, 10%)?

Don't know. I ran 25% both times. I'm not going to try saving the
qualifying run anymore, as I'm already 3 weeks behind the big boys, going on
4.
