Fantasy list of the world's greatest circuits for a sim

A poster listed 16 great circuits he would want in an ultimate racing game, mostly historic road courses plus Indianapolis. Others pointed out that GPL already had most of them as add-ons, suggested Bathurst, which had just been released for GPL, along with Mosport, Laguna Seca and banked Monza, and debated whether ovals belonged.

Wouldn't it be good if they brought out a racing game with 16 of the greatest circuits in the world? What should they have? I would have: Old Interlagos Old Beournos Aires Clement Ferant Le mans de sarthe (24 hours track) Nurburging Nordschlife Silverstone Bern Bremgarten Spa Francochamps Old and new Zandavot (Old layout) Indianapolis (Oval) Osterighting (Old Austria) Suzuka (Old Layout, without casio Triangle) Pescara (Longer than the Nordschlife!) Monaco Any other thoughts?

That sounds like GPL to me. Most of the tracks can be found today for GPL and the others are being worked on. Cheers, /Martin

You forgot the "Arctic Circle Raceway" :-), probably one the finest modern racetracks http://www.acr.no//bilder/acr.jpg http://www.algonet.se/~alfisti/ArticCR.html http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/arctic.html I had better links to this track.....:-( Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ * Spam is for losers who can't get business any other way * "Spamkiller" http://www.spamkiller.com

Another one you forgot to mention is Bathurst, which has just been released for GPL as well. Rafe Mc On Thu, 15 Nov 2001 19:07:42 -0000, "Ballard3" <[email hidden]> wrote:

>well i wouldn't put indianapolis as on of the greatest tracks... Indianapolis has more history than any other racetrack I can think of in the world. Not to mention it's one of the hardest ovals to master. How many times have we seen champions and former 500 winners have crash--particularly big crashes--just in practice at Indy? That kinda says something to me. ----------------------------------------- Dan Belcher Webmaster, http://www.gplworld.racesim.net/simcrash

No, as of yet the interesting races there always seem to be on weekends when I can't make that rather long trip from down here in Moss....:-( Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ * Spam is for losers who can't get business any other way * "Spamkiller" http://www.spamkiller.com

Sorry, about Bathurst, Laguna Seca and Mosport. Indianapolis was included because it is one of the hardest ovals in the world. Ovals are also inportant in World Motor racing. If not Indy, what about Fontana, the fastest track in the world Asbjrn Bjrnstad <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Rouen? I'd rather have Donnington or Brands Hatch than Silverstone though. What about the Isle of Man TT course? (I know its for bikes, but its still a great course!) 8-) *Peter* - http://www.cix.co.uk/~peterpc/home.html

You'll be telling me that it's cool to bank a car, wedge the steering left and pad the right hand side of the cockpit next :-) And in reply to the original post, I'd lose Silverstone in favour of Donington, personally. I'd probably also put Sepang in there too. -- Spadge Fromley ''collect your rubbsih and in my belly it will go ...''
