So what do those of you who've tried the new addon think of it?
My impressions? I didn't think that much was going to be changed to
the physics, but it just *feels* a lot nicer to drive. Maybe this is
updated physics to suit the 2000 spec cars? But the car can be pushed
a lot harder for better lap times. I have a heap more confidence when
attacking the chicanes, more chance that I can catch any oversteer.
The *canned spins* factor that has always been so present with gp3
seems to have been toned down, although they still seem to be present.
Just that the car seems a bit more *catchable* if you like.
An unexpected bonus is that the setup of the differential has been
changed totally, you are now able to alter the power and coast sides,
with a large number of degrees of settings available. A VERY welcome
change :D
Also seems to run a tad faster, I'm now able to run 1280 rather than
1024. Not much faster mind you, just a little bit. Maybe when they
updated the graphics on the circuits they optimised them further.
Using controllers has been enhanced a bit too, it now operates like it
always SHOULD have from the start :)
The bottom line? It's a bit rough to expect GP3 owners to have to pay
for the update. It should be available as a low cost 'upgrade' to
existing owners, even as an updated patch. As a full release it's
certainly much better than the original GP3 (but we all know of the
problems that were there from day 1 with that)
I know that most of the updates are already available on the internet,
but I think there are a lot of subtle changes which enhance it
further. These should be available as a patch though, not requiring it
to be bought a second time.

But I thought many of the F1 teams were running VCs by then, not
Salisburys...

party carsets will be ported to it pretty soon.
BTW the cars still hang in mid-air in the pits.

Agree totally, the graphics are 'updated' but they're still as dodgy
as ever. On the plus side, the cockpit does look much nicer now,
pretty well done.
Second bonus is being able to run it in a higher res, which helps too.
But if you were already running full res, then this isn't much of a
bonus.
Cars hanging in the air is weird, but then they suddenly start talking
to you :P Creepy.

4 different options for setting your diff, 2 for power side, 2 for
coast side. One is "difference in shaft speed", able to be set from 1
to 8 I think, the other is based on input torque, from 1 to 8 again.
Bottom line is you can now set your diff up to suit yourself, rather
than 3 generic settings. Works for me, car control in GP3 has never
been better for getting the power down :D

If GP4 is worth the wait, then that'll definitely be on my shopping
list. But that's a hell of a wait, given their current development
schedule.

Wrong! But Matti Laitinen has already released an update.

I don't see why everyone has a problem paying for a "patch". EA bring out a
new "FIFA" game every year (since '95 IIRC) that just has the season's
"skins" and some minor tweaks to the (appalling) "physics".

detail has looked pretty good to me. It does look dated and pixellated at
lower res though.

Your point?
The poster's point was valid. This should be a patch.

Multiplayer doesnt work in gp3 2000. We have tested it TC/IP internet and it
wont connect and we race alot on TC/IP games so we are not wookies...
