Hi all, I recently installed Win2K on my system and have been dual booting between that and WinME. I would now like to try to get my sims to run in Win2K (mainly GPL \ N4 \ GP3 \ F1CS2K \ F1RC) and just wondered whether anyone here had succesfully managed to get a MSFF wheel running under Win2K as I seem to remember there being some problems with it. If anyone could advise me on this I would be very grateful. Thanks PH

No problem here, although if you do have problems, try unplugging it while in the Game Controllers dialog, and replug. It has no options, that's the only problem; split axis all the time. I found out MS software v4.0 for USB FFwheel does NOT work in Win2000. Therefore you have to install the wheel using win2000 in-built driver, which means u are left without force/return to center strength settings, no profiler and no sensitivity/deadzone can be adjusted. The wheel still works, even ff effects work, but u'd need to adjust to different "feel" on the wheel then for example in Win98 with MS software installed... e.g. its a pain in the ass :-/ hope this helps in anyway, "Hoops74RM" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

The MS Software version 4 works perfectly here under Win 2000, the gameport wheel's software (version 3) doesn't work under Win 2000, in fact it won't even install. In a nutshell, A gameport MSFF wheel WON'T work in W2k A USB MSFF wheel *should* work in W2k -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers> "Mike P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:fUd87.1204$[email hidden]... > I found out MS software v4.0 for USB FFwheel does NOT work in Win2000. > Therefore you have to install the wheel using win2000 in-built driver, which > means u are left without force/return to center strength settings, no > profiler and no sensitivity/deadzone can be adjusted. No software - but the drivers that come with Win2K give me split axis fully functioning MSFF Doug

Sorry, I should have said the MSFF SOFTWARE that comes with each wheel. Either wheel will work with the drivers that are in Win2k, but you dont get the profiler or ability to change the deadzone etc... -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers> "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:9js14f$ogu$[email hidden]... > The MS Software version 4 works perfectly here under Win 2000, the gameport > wheel's software (version 3) doesn't work under Win 2000, in fact it won't > even install. > > In a nutshell, > A gameport MSFF wheel WON'T work in W2k > A USB MSFF wheel *should* work in W2k > > > -- > > Ian P > <email invalid due to spammers> > > > "Mike P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:fUd87.1204$[email hidden]... > > I found out MS software v4.0 for USB FFwheel does NOT work in Win2000. > > Therefore you have to install the wheel using win2000 in-built driver, > which > > means u are left without force/return to center strength settings, no > > profiler and no sensitivity/deadzone can be adjusted. Yes sorry, I meant to say the profiler software. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers> "Douglas Ellison" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Wcg87.37252$[email hidden]... > > "Ian P" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:9js14f$ogu$[email hidden]... > > The MS Software version 4 works perfectly here under Win 2000, the > gameport > > wheel's software (version 3) doesn't work under Win 2000, in fact it won't > > even install. > > > > In a nutshell, > > A gameport MSFF wheel WON'T work in W2k > > > > > I've got the gameport MSFF working under Win 2K just dandy. > > No software - but the drivers that come with Win2K give me split axis fully > functioning MSFF > > Doug > > > >
