Well, I'm stumped. This used to work (or at least I think it did, maybe I'm
losing it). When in any of the F2 or F3 views I can't hear other cars as I
pass them or they go by me. I've fiddled with the sound volumes in the FE,
reinstalled sound drivers, Direct X, and still no luck. All other sounds
work fine in the game. DXsetup sounds all play fine. No ther problems with
any other game. Is anyone else experiencing this? Help!
I figured out the problem...it's yet another bug in F1RC :-)
I had reinstalled the game and was going into practice sessions which
resulted in no sounds from the other cars. Once I went to the race, I heard
the sounds and it seems to have fixed the problem because I can hear the
cars in ALL game modes now. <sigh>...all that damn reinstalling for nothing!

Anyway, I really hope that patch comes out soon and addresses the AI
problem. Granted, they seem to be getting better at the tracks I race with
often, but they are still very inconsistent. I always hold my breath while I
try to make a clean passing attempt or outbrake them into a corner. I won't
even mention the dreaded punt from behind that has put me out of many races,
even when I brake waaaay late. Oh well, at least I love almost everything
else about this sim. Which makes the AI problems all the more frustrating...

Uh, speaking of F1RC bugs, for laughs I ought to post the reply I got from
Ubisoft tech support in response to my particular problem.
On the other hand, if you've had any occasion to email Ubisoft tech support
. . . regarding any game . . . and any problem . . . for the last couple of
years (I'd guess) . . . and no matter what info was in the body of your
message or attached to it . . . why, you've probably already seen their
response, LOL!
