I'm frustrated with my 15fps on my Voodoo3-3000. So, I'm looking for real feedback on a new video card. I'm looking at the Radeon 64 meg VIVo card. But also wondering if a geforce2 series card might do the job for now. P3-500, Tyan motherboard, 256 meg ram, SB live value, cable modem connection. Win98SE for games and a swappable drive with Win2k for other apps. I know the CPU is not blazing fast, but I need a graphic boost for N4 (and other applications software) right now. A new CPU will come later. Do you have experience with a Radeon of geforce2 card with N4? Thanks, Skupe
It's not the Voodoo 3...I have one and on my old K6 350 I was getting about the same fps, but with an upgrade to a K7 750 I get 40fps plus (more if I turn the eye candy down). Same sound card as you, too, and only 128 Mb Ram -- Colin ICQ 25485061 Skupe <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:sv9z6.30024$[email hidden]... > > I'm frustrated with my 15fps on my Voodoo3-3000. Its the game itself racing with a full field of cars will kill your fps because i suppose the AI is really CPU intensive.. for instance, watch a multi car pile-up, you will get 1fps "Colin Harris" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:iW9z6.2582$[email hidden]... > It's not the Voodoo 3...I have one and on my old K6 350 I was gettingabout

I borrowed a P3-800 and tried it. All othe rhardware the same. Got about 25 fps in traffic. For $300 (cdn) I'm hoping that I could get more with a better vid card. You might get a little more but N4 is very cpu intensive especially with the max # of cars. Your cpu is the main culprit. (Sierra/Papy suggest P3 600 but that's really the Min. Go for 1 ghz or higher.) -Tim "Skupe" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:lpFz6.31580$[email hidden]...
