Is the major difference between a GTS and an Ultra just the
core clock speed and memory speed? Would it be possible to buy a GTS
and over clock it to Ultra performance? Or is there more to it?
There's a bit more to it than that the Ultra has very high quality 3.5ns I
think memory that can be clocked alot higher. It actualy has a higher
fillrate than the GF3 and in games that don't use DX7/8 will probably
outperform a GF3, but not the upcoming 128mb GF3 Ultra but you'll need to be
Bill Gates to afford that.

This article (it it's still there) from PC World's site should help
you out. For the most part, this article is responsible for me
choosing the Pro over the Ultra:

Go for the Hercules Prophecy II GTS Pro.
It's right in the middle, closer to the Ultra.

Wow, that Prophet II Pro really screams! Thanks for pointing that out.
On pricewatch for $275, not a bad price at all.
