I wonder: will NASCAR 4 pull many European GPL addicts over the line to
start NASCAR racing instead, finally making the European NASCAR community
grow to respectable sizes? What do you European GPL-nuts think about that
vision?

Not much chance of that as they're only selling it to USA and Germany :(

Why the "There can be only one" statement? GP3, N3/soon4 and GPL coexist nicely
on my hd, getting almost equal amounts of attention. Of course, if you want
to be a champion driver, you'd have to limit yourself to one sim.
Without participation of European drivers, almost exclusive oval tracks and
NO presence on TV there's no chance for Nascar in Europe... ;(

Eurosport is supposed to do a extensive coverage of NASCAR this
year. 1/3 of the races live, the rest on tape delay.

Only the box and manual will be translated in German, so the complete game
will be in English. Could be an option...You can find the news post on this

Hehe, :) FIRST contact with nascar was Nascar Racing 1 a few years ago. THEN
i get eurosport and they did some LIVE acts 1999. 2000 was a bad year for
european nascar fans, but Eurosport announces to broadcast more Nascar races
this year.

i don't know Joeri - I still have major problems with any sport that
involves driving largely in circles on a banked track !! I'm not sure making
the experience any more realistic will make it any more interesting to a
Englishman raised on country b-roads and mini coopers !
Now what I really would like to see is a TT Era simulator based on the
Papyrus physics engine - there's no doubt it could be done - I'm thinking
GPLEA's Goodwood - Aston DB4GTZ , Ferrari 250GTO , Cobras , Jag D's & E's ,
Porsche RSK's & 904's .... I just can't understand why nobody's suggested
this.
Lord knows we've enough Rally , F1 , Oval , Touring cars , all done to death
if not yet done well enough - is it down to product placement money , paying
for game development ? Does Historic / Legends just spell commercial
disaster ?

Good news. Although, it's Eurosport, so I believe it when I see it... ;)

Yeah, Long Beach 99. They showed the start and then bragged a lot
about going back to live racing. All 25 minutes of the rest of the
race. Ridiculous. Rumous says that Eurosport is also going to show all
the CART races live except the European ones (!) this year. So things
are looking good, the new CART president has really turned things
around. But as you said, it's Eurosport, so I believe it when I see it :)

Hey Wolfgang, there are at least 2 chances 4 U to have fun with "NASCAR".
1 - watch eurosport (TV)
2 - drive a car by yourself (you know this I know)

Uff, I almost dropped off the chair, they are showing CART this year?
But it's not official, just a rumour... ;(
Anyway, think about that one: it's "Euro"sport, but they are not
showing the European races. Unbelievable! ;)
(Unless some national TV stations reserved the rights for those...)

Correct. German channel Premiere have secured the rights or
something. I think if Eurosport shows any races this year, the
European races will be tape-delayed.

Found this in the current Issue of Swiss "Motorsport Aktuell":
"After one year without cart-live-coverage Eurosport will show all
cart-races except the european"
It might be not official - but it's true!

Haven't we heard that WSC will include some cars from this era? Not sure
about the tracks though.

Here too.. GP3 got minimum install, and N3 tracks live in the GPL folder
which is about 2 gigs now ;) GP3 always gets attention when I'm
looking for things to delete but then I see: just a few MB -
not worth the trouble of uninstalling ;)
>Agree, that only one sim on my harddisk statements are really silly.
Yup.. at least you need N3 for the converter-tracks for GPL :)
sorry, couldnt resist -
