Last Friday Ubisoft sent us a silver disc containing their new F1 racer; F1 Racing Championship. This special preview version was about 80% done, so we could take quite a good look at it: "Having waited so long for this title, anxiously looking forward to it, I had no time to check out all options right away. I selected a free testing session, selected the Melbourne track and off I went. And I immediately got my first surprise. This game will actually let you drive our of the pit box! That's something I have always wanted to do and now I finally can! So I put a little throttle on, selected first gear (if you'd like you can even set a clutch and you can drive out of the box with that. But since I don't have a clutch pedal on my wheel, I decided to keep the automated clutch option where it was), put a lot more revs on and off I went. It's a great feeling taking one of these beasts out of the pit box, even though it's only a game. You have really got to have high revs to get moving, which is exactly what you need in real-life as well. At least, that's what I gather from the telly." You can find the full preview at http://www.simracingnews.com/article.php?page=1&id=22. We have also launched a contest, in which we give away three copies of the game. You can find it at http://www.simracingnews.com/contest.php. Enjoy! Kenneth Verburg [email hidden] Editor-in-chief High Gear http://www.simracingnews.com
