Hi, My ACT Labs Force RS has finally given up on me. I've repaired the gear levers numerous times but now the potentiometer spindle has sheered. Anyone know of a source for ACT Labs in the UK, online, retail anywhere? Failing that anyone know if the pot can be replaced? with what? specs? availability etc? TIA Maxx

Any recommendation? 1) Must be FF 2) Not bothered about pedals, I use separate MS pedals 3) I am used to gear shift paddles, specifically where I can pull forward to change up, flick back to change down - with LEFT HAND. I could learn a new technique but would rather not have to, there ain't enough hours in the day as it is. I often see the "what is the best wheel" question asked but have never really paid much attention as I've been happy with the ACT Labs and this is often the answer given to those sorts of questions. I think I heard good things about the GUILLEMOT FERRARI FF wheel, any one got one care to comment? Specifically about gearshift options? Can it operate like 3) above I can get the new Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP wheel. I know it's supposed to be inferior to the old model but would this suit my option 3) above. Anyone else any FF wheel recommendation? A ny help & advice very much appreciated. Maxx

Txl, I may do that, I think the wheels under warranty anyway but it will likely take a week or more to get anything sorted and I don't want to wait that long. Maxx On Mon, 29 Jan 2001 18:49:24 GMT, "Txl" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Maxx Definitely contact Act Labs. They will send you the spare parts. In the last 2 months I have had a fatigue failure in one of the springs in my shifter and a plastic cog snap in the pedals. In both instances Act Labs sent me replacement parts free of charge. They took about 10 days to arrive here in the UK. They even sent me an extra spare spring for the shifter which I asked. Why make things so complicated ? www.act-labs.com With the OLD design of the RS wheel you can have your shifting thing, because the paddles were in factonly one shaft, so if you push on the lkeft side it was the same as pulling on the right, and you can still pull on the left. The trouble is going to be finding a wheel that still has the OLD system, but i am sure that act-labs will sort this one for you, in the worst case they can probably send youy a kit for the old system with your wheel. WHile you are at it they also have the 5 speed plate cover for the shifter, perfect for GPL, and you can keep your old wheel for spare parts.... I'd buy another wheel ACT Labs wheel like a shot even though this one is still under warranty. It takes a while to get things shipped to UK and I need my GPL fix, plus have league races that I'd rather not miss. I've opted to give the Guil Ferrari a go and then work on getting the ACT Labs repaired, Thanks to all who replied Maxx

i can still give you the part no, it was a minipot and the part no is JM74 (When replacing steering controller pots, always use the linear kind) I suggest you go to their website www.maplin.co.uk put the part no in the search box and you should see a pic of it, if it looks about the same as the duff one then go for it. hope this helps Maxx <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
