Just picked up a LWFF wheel and a copy of GPL, so where do I start - after reading the manual, are there any good websites to look at? Also, what is the story with patches for the games? Cheers, M.

Get the 1.2 patch from www.papy.com you need this to enable Force Feedback in GPL. Add on tracks, Snetterton, Goodwood, Crystal Palace and Solitude from the GPLEA along with their car updates and an excellent GPL forum: http://www.kotr.de/org/ Carsounds, Cars, Setups, various Utilities and more from the US Pits: http://www.theuspits.com/owheel/gpl/index.html Beautifully done add on dash boards from The Spares Factory: http://129.100.29.19/gpl/ Online Racing through VROC: http://vroc.net/ Dave Noonan's Track Convertor, allowing you to convert tracks from NASCAR 2, NASCAR 3, NASCAR Legends, NASCAR 1999 and CART Racing as well as the Imola Track: http://www.sim-garage.co.uk/ There is much, much more out there, check out this GPL Links site: http://users.bart.nl/~hansvd/links.html BTW...kiss your social life good-by!<g> -- don New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks: http://www.ianparker.co.uk/gpl/bapom/
"don hodgdon" <[email hidden]> wrote Thanks Don! It says that you can only use low res pits with the Voodoo3. Why is that? I ask becasue I have a Voodoo3 and I'm used to running in 1024x768. If I add these cocpits, must I drop down to 640x480? What do they mean by low res/hi res? > Beautifully done add on dash boards from The Spares Factory: > http://129.100.29.19/gpl/

It has no effect on what resolution you use in the game. I'm using the lo-res dashes with a V3 and run GPL at 1024x768 with no problems. don
That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks, I'm going to set 'em up now. Just curious, are they refering to color depth? Trying to wrap my mind around what other meanings resolution can have, but can't figure it out. The hi-res dashes are crisper and look sharper but for some reason do not work with the V3 cars. You might email Ken at The Spares Factory and ask him. You may find after installing the dashes that the needles are not positioned correctly or you may get a warning that the game cannot load the tracks. This is because the files are meant to be used with the GPLEA car files. I have found that the best way to install the dash is to remove the individual car folder from your GPL installation, I place it in a temp folder, do a fresh install of the car file from the cd, install the GPLEA car files and then install the dash files. This eliminates any conflicts with files you may have previously installed in your car folders and gives you a backup file in case you have any problems with the new files. don
Good advice. Appreciate the help! Tim "don hodgdon" <[email hidden]> wrote I have found that the best way to install the dash is... [snip] > don > >

DOH! Sorry Alison, yours should have been the first on the list. How's that Cobra holding up? -- don New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks: http://www.ianparker.co.uk/gpl/bapom/

IIRC, the V3 cards still have a 256x256 texture limits. Larger resolution textures most probably mean that the textures are bigger, 512x512 for example. So more pixel, crisper etc. But the V3 just can't handle them. Ruud van Gaal, GPL Rank +53.25 Pencil art : http://www.marketgraph.nl/gallery/ Car simulation: http://www.marketgraph.nl/gallery/racer/
Yes, someone else wrote me e-mail with the same explanation and now it does ring a bell. It's the same reason the cockpit in Flanker 2 (flight sim) looks so blurry on a 3dfx card. Thanks for posting. "Ruud van Gaal" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
