Well, I'm in Rochester and Steve Smith is in Wyoming ( both 90 minutes from
the Glen). What have you got in mind?
regards, michael

Before you buy.
The Reason I'm looking for someone in those areas is because Mike Grandy
suggested it. He said we might draw some NY, NJ, and PA drivers. I know
there's a Shi( load near you.
You were from Elmira, Do you still have friends or relitives there that
might help in finding a place for a LAN event?

I want to set up a LAN event. GPL/NASCARx/SCGT/ect..ect.. What I need
first is a place to hold such an Event. I'd prefure the Watkins Glen area
just because of the track being right there. Mike Grandy suggested
Binghamton because we might draw a bigger crowd. But, If you happen to know
of a good place that can hold at least 20 if not more then I'm open for
suggestions. That's the main perpose of the post, to find someone that can
get us a place to set up. At the moment I'm looking at Memorial Weekend
2001. That should be enough time to find the place, get a web page up and
running, and draw the crowd.
Speaking of.. I'm also looking for someone who can set up and run a web
page for the LAN event.

This is VERY true. Speaking of... If I remember right you were trying
to convince a store owner friend about a LAn event for the FPS games at one
time? Might be worth a shot to ask again :-)

Mike,
I might be dragooned into such an enterprise. Memorial Day is probably a
bad choice...unless you expect to have a Jumbotron showing the 500.
Anything going on at the Glen that weekend? We've got a town hall here in
the hamlet of Wyoming, but we're kinda outta the way. Are you willing to
pay for space? Who's going to provide h/w for the LAN? (Boxes, NICs, CAT5,
etc.). If you charge admission, you might run afoul of licensing
restrictions from the games. I'd sure as hell be willing to race anybody,
anywhere, any time (except, of course, Monaco & Mexico...and probably
Detroit).
You sure you don't wanna move this whole gig to Vegas? *Everybody* loves an
excuse to go there....

Mike, why not check out your local community college or hi school computer
lab? You'll get an instantly configured network, and a minimum level of
tech support. Since they're "not for profit" they shouldn't charge too
much for their facilities.
With a bit of creativity you could call it a "2 day racing seminar" and get
them to put it on their continuing education calendar and handle
registration for you.
The only snag might be the graphics cards.
