I have just had the chance to try the full version of INSANE, I also tried the demo and could never get any joystick or my USB MS Wheel working with it, so I thought before I buy the game I would take this chance to try the full version on offer to me. Anyway as with the demo I can not get the game to use any Joystick I try with it or my USB Wheel with it, so im stuck with the keys, for this reason I will hold off buying the game to see if its fixed when others get it. Its a really screwy set up they have to configure the controlers in INSANE, you go to controler config and pick a custom config then start to assigne controls for each option, when you try and set up say the steering you get a msg "Release All Controls" and it just sits there and does nothing as you turn/yank/push the controler you want for this option. Other time I have had the steering pick up my gas peddel on my USB Wheel or the Z axis on my Thrustmaster FLCS/TQS/RCS, once it picks up at least one axis it wont let anymore be assigned. Other than that the game really does ROCK its great fun and the cars are modeld nice, I also like the feature of being able to turn your FPS view head with the mouse while you drive along (im using keys remember) and it feels like you really are in the car, I dont like the fact you need to unlock the other cars and terrains even in practice mode though. Graphics were great and 1024x768 and the AI can race well too. If anyone knows about the controler promblem please help because if I can fix this in the full version im going right out to buy the game. Hotdog
Hi, <[email hidden]> wrote: > Its a really screwy set up they have to configure the controlers in > INSANE, They really screwed up the Controller Issue. I got my Microsoft Sidewinder FF Wheel finally to work with new Drivers and combinend Axis. But several other Wheels seem not to work. Codemasters adressed to fix that in an future patch. For other possible solutions look here: http://www.codemaster.nildram.co.uk/cgi-bin//forumdisplay.cgi . I like Insane, but I'm a bit dissapointed with the the framerates on my Athlon 1000mhz/Voodoo 5 System. Sometimes they drop as low as 20fps average around 37 fps ), and the Grafiks are not *that* great to get low framerates. Besides that, I don't like the concept not to be able to drive all cars in practice mode. Does someone already know an cheat to unlock the cars ? Glide is absolutely unplayable on my machine. Hope that they fix the Glide-thing in an future patch. Why do they include an Glide rasterizer when it's unplayable slow ? The FPS are drivable, but not so fluent as I excpect them compared to the somewhat "basic" graphics. BTW. it doesnt matter which resolution, 640*480 is even slower than 1024*768. Michael, I also had bad fps on my V3 3000, untill someone here told me to run in D3D instead of Glide. Weird enough D3D is much faster than Glide in Insane. Is that 'insane' or what? Ha ha ha! Ok, you can stop laughing now. Andre Really, stop laughing now, it wasn't THAT funny...

Hi, Andre Warringa <[email hidden]> schrieb: > What pc are you using? Athlon 1000mhz, Voodoo 5 5500. Maybe it's an problem with Insane and Voodooo 5 ? I get about 40 frames in Cockpit View in 1024*768 noFSAA, details average, but sometimes it drops down to under 30 frames. My PC handels GPL with full field 3D Wheels and 1027*768 2XFSAA with 36fps anytime and everywhere and the N4 Demo with rock-solid 42frames in Cockpit View ( 80fps in 800*600) and average 38 frames in NASCAR heat in 1024*768. But I enjoy Insane, great for havin' fun when I'm not concentratet enough for GPL. And since SODA won't run on my Athlon I wanted an Off-Road Race Game. Especially the hunt for the Gates and the "Destruction Derby" are quite funny, i also enjoy the Off-Road races. If only I can unlock all cars without hassling with the carreer mode. greetings, Michael Staab -- Mitglied in der CAR, Verein fr PC-Rennsimulationen www.car-ev.de Staabi's Mountain Bike Classics www.mtb-classic.de

What pc are you using? I use a PIII500 and V3 3000, and in D3D the fps is more than acceptable in 800*600 resolution. But you're right, the graphics are quite basic, it should have superb fps in 1280*1024 resolution.. Oh, I also set the terrain detail to medium if I remember correctly, this gives quite some extra fps. Andre

Ok - horsepower isn't the problem here :) Probably a V5 or a driver conflict indeed. Have you experimented with the settings? Does landscape texture setting to medium help? >But I enjoy Insane, great for havin' fun when I'm not concentratet enough >for GPL. Same here, GPL needs 100% concentration and I'm not allways in the mood for that. Insane is a welcome break! >If only I can unlock all cars without hassling with the carreer mode. Hey, don't be so lazy, it's fun :) Andre

You mean they didn't fix this from the Demo? This is a shame. I was going to buy it. Not now... The must have got the name "Insane" when they were reviewing their control system. It's flat broke. -Larry <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Insane (full) works fine with my Logitech Wingman FF. The only problem i got was that the car turned left when i turned the wheel right. I solved the problem by turning left when it asked me to turn right in the setup routine. On Sun, 10 Dec 2000 03:16:26 GMT, "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote:
