Im not sure if im the first person to notice this or not, nobody has ever
mentioned it. If you go down the back straight at michigan and lock the
wheels up till you come to a stop, the tyres burst! Very nice feature. If
you press F5 and do this, you can see the tyre wear thing go down like 2
lesbians! If you spin coming off a turn it also roots your tyres. I've also
burst the 2 rear tyres when doing a huge burnout. Driving with 2 rear tyres
burst is very realistic, which leads me to another thing.. the smoke! By far
the best smoke in any racing game. It doesnt just dissapear or turn the
screen white ala N3, you can lock the tyres up and come around next lap to
see a bit of smoke in the air. Just something i thought was very impressive
and shows why Papyrus are the king of sims. Great job guys!

I noticed. I was racing a friend just a little while ago and we both had
numerous spins that were full of smoke and tire spinning. For the last 5 laps
we raced without inicident, BUT I wasn't able to pull up next to him like I had
the past couple races. All the spinning wore my tires down worse than his, so
he was able to keep the lead and take the win.

Yea, but the way they did the smoke, alot of it really kills framerate. No
big deal though.

another cool thing is that i did a doughnut and the smoke was still there a
lap later

well. It's great to hear when the rear of the car hits the wall, the sound
actually comes from behind you. Sure it's not the first racing game to have
3d sound, but it seems to have been done much better than previous titles
(including N3). Can't wait to hear the AI cars buzzing round my rear
bumper.
