I'm trying to get to multiplayer servers in N4 but am having problems. I have a linksys router that I connect through so I have a private IP on my machine. What settings should I use (I presume in core.ini) to make this baby work? I see it mentions linux IP masqeurading but not positive of how to interpret for Linksys. BTW First impressions of N4 very encouraging. TIA Mitch

Mitch, Try setting your PC up as the DMZ PC. This means you will have to put a static ip number on your PC such as 192.168.1.10 and then configure the DMZ on your router to point at that IP number. PS: The DMZ setting is under the advanced config tab :) Good Luck, Dave "Mitch Alatorre" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:SWfV5.389$[email hidden]... > I'm trying to get to multiplayer servers in N4 but am having problems. Mitch, If you look in the readme.txt file it will tell you which ports you would need to forward to your pc if you didn't want to put your pc in the dmz. I have not tried multiplayer yet with N4 is there a web site your logging onto to get a race list ?. If not you will not get a race list I do not believe, Anyway maybe someone else here will enlighten us :) Good luck, Dave . As far as I know there are no servers at this time. You have to find folks who either post their IP or get a league server with a known ip address to connect. the race status box at the bottom of the multiplayer connect screen is NOT functioning in the demo. dave henrie "Mitch Alatorre" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:SWfV5.389$[email hidden]... > I'm trying to get to multiplayer servers in N4 but am having problems. You shouldn't need any core.ini tweaks. Get the latest firmware for the router (1.36 I think) and in the advanced options menu forward port range 32766-32808 to the internal IP of the machine you're using. Uh, wait a minute... Setting up as the DMZ removes ALL protection the router provides. I have never, ever had to do this with ANY game. Why should we have to do it now? -Larry "DB" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:42gV5.29194$[email hidden]... > Mitch, > > Try setting your PC up as the DMZ PC. You shouldn't need to configure anything as a Nascar4 client behind a Linksys router. Simply choose the correct TCP/IP device in the "Connect Via" drop-down on the Nascar4 multiplayer screen (this should be the IP of the NIC which is connected to the router), type in the IP of the server you want to connect to, and then click the green Start button in the lower right corner. Note that if you want to host a race you'd either need to use the latest firmware to forward port range 32766-32808 to the internal IP of the server or use the router's DMZ option to open that IP to the world. In both cases you'd then give out the router's IP as the IP for others to use when connecting to the server. -- Eric "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:VWvY5.16521$[email hidden]... > Uh, wait a minute... > > Setting up as the DMZ removes ALL protection the router provides. > > I have never, ever had to do this with ANY game. > > Why should we have to do it now?
