The MSFF is a much nicer wheel than the LWFFGP. I have both and if I had to spend the money over again knowing what I know now I would definitely get the MSFF again. If you decide you want a LWFFGP, you can have mine for 70$ + shipping. (or interesting trades, hardware/software) I used it about a week and stuffed it back in the box. ~daxe

The FF effects are nice and easily modified, creating profiles is very easy, no noticeable frame rate hit in GP3, SCGT and F12K (only had time for a few laps at Monza in GPL without tweaking the FF settings, so no comment). There are 4 buttons on the front and two shifters on the back side all are easily reachable and comfortable to use. The grip section of the wheel is made of a rubber type material that conforms nicely to your hand and prevents slipping. Its a fairly small wheel with a diameter of about 10. The pedals are pretty good, the brake pedal is smaller than the accelerator and a bit stiffer, again they are not large only about 4.5 apart (center to center). The pedal unit is light and needs to be on a non-slip surface (mine sits on top of a rug and I do not have any problems). The definitely appear much nicer than the pedals with the original Logitech FF, based on what Ive seen in the stores. I really have nothing to compare it to, FF wise, since my previous wheel was the MS (none FF) wheel, but I haven't lost any lap times switching to FF so I'm happy <g>. The only down side to the new Logitech wheel is the crappy mounting brackets. There are 2 plastic "bolts" that will work themselves loose after a few minutes (you can actually see them turning on their own), but I was able to convert a section of an old wire hanger into a lock system and now the wheel stays nice and secure lap after lap. Why Logitech chose this mounting system is beyond me, theyll probably lose more sales on the wheel because of this incompetent design decision than anything else. Overall, considering I found a simple/cheap solution to the one problem the wheel has, I'm quite happy with the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP. The performance - price factor is the biggest advantage this wheel has. Hope this helps. Ken Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

The logitech seems "ok".....I havnt tried a MSFF for a while, but on my logitech there seems to be too much "play" in the middle of the wheel....so its loose for around 1/2 inch to 1 inch the middle position, Also it seems some forcefeedback effects dont come through at all when the wheel is turned, and come through strong when its in the center position....a example of this would be in GPL, when your off in the bumpy grass...when the wheel is centered its very bumpy, the farther u turn the wheel the less bumpy it gets, until theres none or almost none. The pedals seem to be almost the same on both...and the logitech GP are perfectly fine. >Can someone tell me what wheel to buy, MSFF or new Logitech GP FF... >Share some experiance, please !!!!

Someone posted that DX8 cures the frame rate loss problem with the USB MSFF wheel. Can you confirm this? Interested in the MSFF USB version if it's true.

The framerate issue has never really seemed to be a problem for me, I always have a pretty fast processor and tons of RAM. The only time I noticed a significant difference was right after SCGT came out. The frame rate hit was HUGE with FF enabled. I think it was a DX version problem, though, because an upgrade to DX7 or DX7a or whatever it was solved the problem. Others reported a similar experience. ~dx

If you are going to limit your choice between those two only , I would keep away from the Logitech and go for the MS. If however you are a bit more open minded and still within your budget go for the bigger brother Logitech. better construction and a excellent all round wheel. Then you have the ACT wheel and that also appears to be a very good wheel , not that I can comment first hand. (bound to be some happy customers there) Comes down to price and personal preference. OK thx. But, the problem I'm talking about only shows up in the USB version.

The MS stuff doesn't work particularly well under Windows 2000, and it doesn't appear that Microsoft has any interest in making it so :( I replaced all my MS controllers with Logitech out of necessity. -Larry "Davor Rodin" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Can someone tell me what wheel to buy, MSFF or new Logitech GP FF... > Share some experiance, please !!!!

That's pretty ingenious! I wonder, would teflon plumbing tape help? -Larry "Doug Appleyard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8vbdj8$bv8$[email hidden]...

The sad thing is it probably took me longer, with my horrid tool collection, to bend and cut that stupid hanger than it did for you to create your fix <g>. Thanks for the tips. White tape always helps. Whole Malaysian engineering consists of that ;-) JensSchumi BTW: The other things which keep the nation together are: masking tape and gap-sealant On Mon, 20 Nov 2000 23:51:45 GMT, "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote: >That's pretty ingenious! > >I wonder, would teflon plumbing tape help? > >-Larry > --------------------------------------------- LWFF Ball Bearing conversion at: http://members.nbci.com/JensSchu/ GPLRank: -2.61

KAP, does it really come with a rubber-covered wheel? I heard different stories. JensSchumi BTW: I still would have chosen the LWFF for $46 from justdeals or others.
