I'm curious...why no NFS:PU?

Hi, all I would just like to know why there's so little talk about NFS: Porsche Unleashed on this (very vocal and knowledgeable) newsgroup. Granted, I own said game, and after having played it for a while, I keep drifting back to Viper Racing and the GPL demo (the full version of GPL is on its way to me as you read this...YAY!). Any thoughts? Thanks
I think NFSPU is owned, enjoyed, admired, and perhaps loved by many in this newsgroup, but for some reason it doesn't get much press around these parts. I think that may be because a lot of discussion goes on in other places, like the High Gear (http://www.simracingnews.com/) forums, or the NFSCheats discussion area (http://www.nfscheats.com/). <TONGUE-IN-CHEEK> This may partly be because, almost invariably, any post regarding the relative merits of anything other than GPL will ultimately garner some inane response like "but it's not GPL," which becomes kind of mind- numbing after a while. In fact, I can't believe the current "moving ferris wheel" thread has gone on for so long without some mention about how "GPL doesn't have a moving ferris wheel, so therefore no proper sim should have one, or such. </TONGUE-IN-CHEEK> Seriously, though, I think NFSPU doesn't garner much comment around these parts because most of us have played through the Factory Driver mode and Evolution Mode, and now there's just not much left to discuss, other than the fact that it does rank right up there with Viper Racing and SCGT. Feel free to toss out anything you'd like to discuss about NFSPU -- variety is always welcome around these parts, even though the conversation DOES seem to return to GPL an awful lot! ;-) -- JB In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] (Elric10041) wrote: > Hi, all > > I would just like to know why there's so little talk about NFS:Porsche > Unleashed on this (very vocal and knowledgeable) newsgroup. > > Granted, I own said game, and after having played it for a while, Ikeep > drifting back to Viper Racing and the GPL demo (the full version ofGPL is on > its way to me as you read this...YAY!). I'm open to discussion on NFS:PU aswell. I played it non-stop for a good three weeks or so but that was about 6 months ago now. It was a pleasant surprise for me because NFS3 and NFS:HS didn't hold my attention for very long at all. Truth is, there's not a lot to discuss about NFS:PU - not even joystick/steering wheel configuration problems which seem to create a lot of traffic in this group ; ) I guess it just doesn't have the depth of other games which ensures long term play.
Same here, played it non-stop for a while after I got it. Great fun, but then something seemed to die off and I just didn't want to play it anymore. I guess it doesn't have much depth, it's about as shallow as an air-headed supermodel, but nice ;) Thanks, Alex Andrew Williams <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:iGlQ5.68$[email hidden]... > I'm open to discussion on NFS:PU aswell. When you run GPL alot, and race online you'll know why PU isnt talked about much on here and GPL is. "Elric10041" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

It's an excelent game, it just has only so much replay value - until/unless someone figures out how to create/modify tracks? Any info on this subject? The ralliy aspect was good, but just doesn't appeal as much to me. If we could race the Porsches on Sebring, Lime Rock, Monza, LeMans etc... it would have held my attention longer than the month or so that it did (which isn't bad). If there are track mods out there, let me know- I'd give it another go.

It was very much talked about in the month's after it's release, but the replay value was quite low. The same could be said about Viper Racing, a title that many people admired back in it's days but nobody talks about it anymore here (almost). I've uninstalled it a while ago, but it offered me a great quantity/price entertainment ratio ;) -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.

There are some PU tracks available at this site http://nfs.hwextreme.com/ under the NFSPU section. DISCLAIMER: have not actually tried out any of them since I came across this site only after I'd uninstalled PU
Maybe because NFS has its own newsgroup: alt.games.need-for-speed Werner Elric10041 schrieb:
