This probably doesn't help your situation, but I have two Logitech control
devices and with one click I'm able to easily switch between them in the
Logitech Profiler software.

New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks:

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be
misquoted, then used against you.
I (like many others) have got 2 controllers. Why is it not possible to have
them both 'seen' by Windows and select which one to use within the
game/simulation software setup.
Maybe it is, but I don't know how to do it. Switching controllers manually
each time in Control Panel is a real pain.
I thought this was going to happen in DX7, but it still doesn't seem to be
there even in DX8.

It is perfectly possible to have 2 and even 3 controllers recognised within
a program, provided the developers of the program have implemented this
feature. The following sims recognise 2 controllers in my experience:
GPL
GP500
SBK2001
GP3 (after patch)
Rally Championship
NFSU
All of this is through good programming and has nothing to do with the
operating system which is perfectly capable of having more than 2
controllers. Why else would you be able to select up to 16 controller IDs?
If more sim developers would take the time to implement support for multiple
controllers our lives as sim racers would be much better.
I for one would like to have my Force RS, LWFF, CH Pedals and MS Freestyle
Pro all plugged in at the same time. Sadly this isn't possible at the
moment because of problems 4 controllers cause a number of sims.
Cheers
Phil

Go to the CHProducts website and download a little prog called
"quickjoy" It will allow you to switch between control devices. It
works very well.

Because:
1) W98 was notorious for only using the device on ID #1.
2) Then digital devices cam out and the above was not true
as you could use the logitech FF USB wheel on ID #2
for many games (like F1 2000, F1RS & SCGT).
3) Then SCGT gets patched to 1.55 and the LWFF only works
if it is on ID #1.
4) I have Madden 2001 and have 2 USB gamepads. They both
use different ID's and it works fine.
5) So now it depends on how the MFR programs the game, but
you at least need digital devices to use ID's other than #1.
6) Still a big pain.

I've seen this in MotoCross Madness 2. Upon startup you get to choose which
video card and which controller you wish to use. I would think it would be a
rather simple programming exercise to implement something like this.

Yes, Quickjoy works great in conjunction with a Joyswitch.
My setup:
Suncom Talon, throttle and CH pedals
CH F-16 Combatstick and CH pedals
Thrustmaster Grand Prix wheel and CH pedals
Microsoft gamepad
Under Quickjoy I also have two different driver setups for my wheel. I used
the standard drivers for SCGT, Mobil 1 Rally and GPL, and use a 3-axis, 4
button driver for GP3 to enable the split axis function. I can switch
between any controller/driver setup in less time than it takes to swap out
the game CD.

This is more of a problem with game developers, after all these years, still
only supporting the FIRST CONTROLLER!
Dammit, I wish they would stop this!

Does it switch the controllers into and out of controller #1's slot?

It helps if your devices are digital so they dont have to be recalibrated.
Just a suggestion

After all these years, however, it shouldn't _be_ a problem.
