Hello Gil! Welcome to the rest of your life - hope you haven't got a family, pets, job, hobbies, DIY to do, other games etc etc. You haven't now, in any case... IMO, the two best places to start are the US Pits and the GPLEA: http://www.theuspits.com http://www.gplea.org or http://www.kotr.de Also, try typing "Grand Prix Legends" (with the quotes) into Google's search box. 15,300 pages at last count... Google does in fact have a dedicated GPL directory, here (all one line): http://directory.google.com/Top/Games/Video_Games/Genres/Driving/Racing_Sim ulation/Grand_Prix_Legends/ but it is rather hit-and-miss in its choices - even my site gets in there, for heaven's sake! :) -- David. I just want to say that this game gave me goosebumps going side by side with the ai, I started with the F3 cars to learn the tracks than went onto F2 but seemed too twitchy less grip(in my opinion) than the F1 cars. But the sensation of speed in the F1 cars is second to none. Anyway I just wanted to say hi and that I look forward to posting some more, by reading this newsgroup it seems that the GPL community is growing every day. Also it is amazing all of the different sites out there one of them even has a forum about setups and technical questions. I never took physics but I read that forum and learned so much, thanks(Ricardo Nunnini I believe) Gil(USA)

Why did you even look at the F1's? Those things are no good. Stick with the F3's!! Well, I suppose they're ok for insomniacs, nothing can send someone to sleep as fast as a F3 car at Spa <G> -- Ian P <email invalid due to spam> Mike Barlow <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:S6kP5.184312$[email hidden]... > Why did you even look at the F1's? Why Mike... this one seems to underestimate the challenge of F3 racing. Whatever shall we do with him? Jan. ;-) =--- PS.: I am an insomniac, but racing F3's online doesn't help matters much. ;-) Ian P wrote... > Well, I suppose they're ok for insomniacs, nothing can send > someone to sleep as fast as a F3 car at Spa <G> > > -- > Ian P > <email invalid due to spam>
To me the fascination of F3's lies in the quality/purity of driving technique required to be truly fast in them. In F3 you can scrub, but every mph lost takes forever to get back. You can mess up an entry or exit, but there's no power on tap to correct matters. All in all a unique challenge. I'm nothing special in an F3. I usually trail Barlow and co. by over 2 seconds, a veritable eternity in F3 racing. But still I keep coming back for more punishment, you could say I'm hooked. A large part of that is that the racing is usually pretty good/intense, even for places just outside the top 10. I can see where you might have problems driving F3's. I'm not one of those pedants who says you should always start out in F3 and work your way up to F1's via F2's only when you've mastered them (I recommend it, but I'm not making it law). If you get most enjoyment from driving F1's (badly <g>) then that's your perogative. F3's are a great tool for teaching one to use all of the track and the car he/she's been given, however... which coincidently is exactly what's holding you back for you F1 GPL Rank, IMO. Why not check out the GPVL F3 series when it restarts (I'm sure Mark will advertise here)... at the very least the replays will provide usefull reference material. And, if I don't get any faster (which it very much looks like, the contrary is even true at the moment) you'll have someone to race for sure. ;-) Jan. =--- EldredP wrote...

Hehehe... I know what you're referring to. That one looked like a real race for a while. White knuckle stuff. I'm pretty sure the gentleman in question hasn't. Which is a shame, really, since we have the best fun/frustration balance in online racing most of the time. Jan. =--- PS.: at least Eldred got the signature bit. ;-) Mike Barlow wrote... > I thought the little extra at the botom of the post would > have given him my reason. The problem is, in the hands of a slower driver, they ARE boring. If you're not good enough, you end up driving around by yourself. Of course, the same thing happens with F1, but at least you get there faster... :) Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +49.12 Never argue with an idiot.
