For a bit of arcade-hall-racing-nostalgia, you really should get Outrun. I had a blast last night, it brought back some great memories... Get the latest version of Mame32 here: http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32/ Get the Outrun rom here: http://www.mame.dk The great thing is it works perfectly with my LWFF! (no force feedback of course) It would be cool if some company would completely modernize this game to today's standards, just for the hell-u-vit! Ice D

Ice, Outrun works, but it runs -very- slow on my PIII450. Is this normal or is there a way to speed it up? Andre

Andre, what version (DOS or Windows) of MAME are you running? I've noticed that the Windows version does run slower than the DOS version. Andre Warringa wrote:

In the Windows version it runs quite well on my system (PII333). The sound has some glitches. I guess you can look at all the options in the Mame menu. I have a sound sample rate of 22050. Also, the DOS version of Mame is supposed to be faster than the Windows version, but I never bothered to check. I use the latest final version of Mame (0.36), not the latest beta (I think it runs worse on the beta version). You can look here for some further tips: http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html#d07 And there's the Mame newsgroup of course. Ice D

I did manage to get Outrun playing at a reasonable speed by tweaking the settings, but still not satisfying enough. Great fun to play all those arcade classics though :) Andre

Who knows, maybe in the future... in the mean time, Super Offroad is another fun game: http://www.mame.dk/gameinfo/offroad/ http://www.mame.dk/gameinfo/offroadt/ I haven't downloaded it yet, but I remember this one from the arcade hall. Ice D

Nice :-) I had this for DOS when it was still in the arcade, now I have the arcade. I'm off to play now.... Why would a ROM site need you to sign up for an account, and use a login and password? I don't get it... Smells like an email collection service. -Larry "Ice D" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3a0a8fbe$0$1861@reader2...

Often the password is emailed to you so you can't use a fake adres. I use a special hotmail account when I have to sign up for something. You won't believe the ammount of spam that's being sent to that hotmail account every day.. Andre

No, I'd believe it...<g> But, I think most sites that would e-mail you the password actually STATE that. I was assuming this was an ID and password that HE created, so the e-mail address entered was irrelevant. eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +40.48 Never argue with an idiot. Larry, Which rom site are you refering to that "requires" you to sign up for an account. www.mame.dk does not require you to sign up for an account, although it is an option. I have downloaded hundreds of roms from that site and have never signed up for an account. I assume signing up simply allows them to send you info updates about mame and mame roms, or possibly allows you to post to message boards (If www.mame.dk even has a message board of some kind... I havem't checked). Anyhow, I just wanted to make it clear that www.mame.dk does not require you to sign up for any account or provide an email address, etc. If you were refering to another site, then I apologize for the confusion. - Patrick In article <UkwY5.16726$[email hidden]>, "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote: > Why would a ROM site need you to sign up for an account, and use alogin and

Then this is the most disorganized site I've ever seen :) What did you 'click' to actually get to the ROM's? -Larry <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:912ppc$b0t$[email hidden]...
