Hi, I am trying to run N3 under Win2K and Win98 (dual boot). Under Win98 it runs great, under Win2K I get very strange behaviour - a slowing down then speeding up of the framerate (almost feels like the game loses and then tries to regain time...) My setup: Celeron 466, 128 MB, GeForce 2MX (6.31 drivers, No Vsync, No FSAA), SB PCI64, LWFF Has anybody seen anything similar? Any ideas as to how to fix? /mark
You've answered your own question. The 'fix' is to not run N3 under Win2K, an OS it wasn't designed for. Stick with Win98, and you'll be fine. Mark Hannon wrote:

I'm sure that SOMEONE has gotten N3 to run under W2k, right? <g> Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +49.67 Never argue with an idiot. Personally, I've found N3 to run _better_ under Win2K. Full 31fps and it's steady. It doesn't seem to drop rates in the corners as bad either. -Larry "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <[email hidden]>, DJ Speedy<[email hidden]> > writes: > > >You've answered your own question. > > > >The 'fix' is to not run N3 under Win2K, an OS it wasn't designed for.Stick

N3 runs good on Win2k for me, as well. Great framerates, etc. My only problem is that the lousy win2k drivers for SBlive quadruples the volume of the opponents cars on full acceleration. You can hear them all the way around the track, sitting in the pits. Even if you turn the slider to 1%, they are still blaringly loud. I can't even hear my own spotter or rpms. Then when I lower the acceleration the volume sliders in N3 work again, but the sound is horribly scratchy and has some kind high pitched frequency phase. The Microsoft drivers are worse on my machine. I tried swapping pci slots, and disabling acpi, reinstall win2k, etc. The results were the same. Same hardware, all win98, all works just fine.
