I have four systems connected to a Linksys Router (4-port version).
I was trying to get my system be able to host a GPL race in VROC, and so
I upgraded my firmware to 1.36.
The end result is that:
1) now only one of my machines can access the net (which also
happens to be the one I updated the router firmware from
2) I still can't host a race on VROC (my server has an orange
square and no ping times displayed.
What could I possibly have done wrong?
I'm fairly certain that all of the settings I had before were re-entered
into the router, so I'm kind of at a loss.
Any help?

I don't know John, but if you figure it out let me know :) I can't host
through the Linksys either. Do you have a PC in the DMZ?
I think I heard that might be the only way.

My bigger problem right now is that only one of my machines can even
access the internet - the rest are blind as bats.

HHmm, did all of them work in the original install of the Linksys?
I know you know more about networking then I do. I'm sure you did it
right.
Can each PC access the router. Obviously you've got tcp/ip on the PC's
and they are associated with their nic's.

I successfully hosted a race and got all my machines back on the net. :-)
To host in GPL, you have to be using firmware version 1.36 (or higher)
and open the following ranges of ports in the "Filters" section (on the
router):
6970-6971
32766-32786
And that's all you have to do.
I hosted 19 drivers at Nurburgring earlier this morning.

I started out this morning by deleting all of the
forwardeding settings. When I did that, all of the machines had access
again. I then proceeded to add the port ranges back one at a time, and
after each one, check the other machines.
I ended up with all four machines being able to access the net *AND* I
can host races on VROC without having to do the DMZ thing. I honestly
don't know why that worked. It might have something to do with having
ranges of ports listed first, and then single ports listed last.
Here's the way mine is now:
6970 - 6971
32766 - 32786
24000
24380
When I was experiencing the problem, it was as follows:
24000
24380
6970 - 6971
32766 - 32786

John, anytime I change the bios for the router I have to shut the
systems
all off, disconnect the power from the router. The relog them all back on.

This is the 4 port router. The install instructions are included. Just
unzip and run the install from the directory you installed it from. Latest
version is 1.36.

Got it, thanks guys. Gotta be impressed with Linksys... they do things
easy and right, at least in my eyes.
