I have a K62 450 64Meg ram Ati xpert 98
Thinking of buying a Voodoo 3 3000. Now the big question-
What framerates can I expect from it for GPL, GP3, F1200?
My current Ati card just doesn't cut it with gpl, GP3 if I turn off loads of
eye-candy I can get just below 100% occupancy, F1200 - say no more. :o)

Thanks for your replies. The V5 was out of the question with a wife,
mortgage & two kids :o)
I bought the V3 (68ukp) very reasonable, going to fit it now.

Right - first off, you'll get a lot of people saying "don't get a 3dfx,
they're on their way out". Ignore them. By the time 3dfx stops being good
enough, the next wave of cards will be cheap.
I have a Celeron 500 with 64 megs and a v3-2000 PCI - the slowest 3dfx card
you can buy new. With my old Voodoo 1 I got about 20fps ina 10-car race.
Now it's 36 all the way except the start (and at the start if I turn off
some graphics options). IMO, you'll notice the difference a lot.
GP3 is a bit odd - its 3D mode is barely better than software - so it's
less good as a guide. You should be able to get it running smoothly
(aghain, except the start) with a V3.
Haven't any idea about F1-2000 as I don't have it. HTH (a bit).

After upgrading to a V5-5500 from a V3-2000, I could run F1-2000 up to 1024x768
with the same details as the V3-2000 at 640x480. No overclocking anywhere. I
recommend the V5-5500 for the FSAA which F1-2000 needs. I haven't tried the
V5-5500 with GPL nor GP3, but everything else I have runs flawlessly on my
P3/550 V5-5500 setup.

As a little side note, is there a 'No CD' patch for the Sierra Originals
version of GPL? The UK version I tried was looking for a different filesize.
I have applied the 1.2 patch that was on the CD.
Thanks again for your earlier replies.

Ah well, if all else fails, read the instructions.

Mark,
If you don't need the CD for the un-patched version, you've
the US version. And yes, there is a no-cd patch for the UK 1.2
version, you can get it at:
