Re: F12K crashes back to desktop

Could be the FF bug. If you haven't installed the 1.09 patch for F12K, do it. The patch disable some of the FF effects. I guess that is one way of fixing it!!!!!

I am having problems with F12K crashing and kicking me back to the desktop. I'm running the following Compaq 5220 AMD K62 3D 380Mhz Voodoo 3 3000 ACT Labs Force RS DirectX 7a I've done all the usual of getting the latest drivers, etc. I'm starting to run out of Ideas. Have you had it running before and it has now quit, or are you just trying to get it to run for the first time? Also, when does it crash and under what circumstances? Does it let you get to the menus, does it crash after loading a track, when you start driving, when you hit something, etc.? One thing you might try is to turn off the Force Feedback effects -- F12K is VERY hardware intensive, and the FF effects migh be overpowering your K6-2. If you can get to the menus, try disabling the FF effects and see if that makes a difference. FWIW, My system is similar to yours -- I've got a K6-2 500 with a TNT2 M64 card, and once you get past the crashing problems I can give you some tweaking tips to help optimize the game since you're a K6 user.
