Is there any way to turn off mip mapping when using D3D in Nascar-3? Thanks, Sal V.

I don't know of a way to do that with N3, but you may be able to do it with your display setup. I have GeForce 256 and its display app has an area under "D3D" that asks about how many mip maps this and z buffering that, and i believe that you could turn them off there. Do you want to disable them due to a vid card issue? If so it may just be about time to upgrade your card. N3 is about the worst looking, least video resource intensive game I own. It seems to run fine on a bone stock GeForce 256 with no tweaking and the latest patch of N3 (I have CTS add-on too). Don't mistake me, I love the game, in spite of its flaws. I run in a league and am starting a league of my own now (no pun intended). If you are trying to tweak THIS game, then none of the new stuff coming out (N4 included) will probably not run to your satisfaction with your current setup. Not really a slam, just honest input from a LOOONG time driving sim and computer addict (I've been running Nascar Racing since pretty near its release date of version 1 and the same with Need For Speed, also GPL, Legends, Trucks, SCGT, Viper Racing, CART:PR, Monster Truck Madness....and as for computers, my first was a Tandy TRS-80 Model 1, you hooked it to a TV and loaded programs with a cassette tape player and program "tapes" :) Wow am I old. Anyway good luck with finding out if you can disable mip maps. Have you tried emailing papy? Best of luck, HB Sal V. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3q5H5.53644$[email hidden]...

Well my system does have those options you mentioned in the videocard set up but it doesn't make a difference in N3. I have an Athlon-800 with a GeForce-2 Prophet and N3 runs just fine. I am trying to get rid of that annoying bluring effect that I see on the walls of the track. I see it mostly on the straights, it look s like the fence and bottom of the wall is blurry until I get to a certain distance. This also happens to the cars when viewing a replay. The cars seem a little blurry until the get closer. It's not a major problem but I noticed this when switching from a voodoo video card to the GeForce-2. Sal V.
