In GP3 sometimes AI cars enter the pits and just sit there, they don't
retire or go back out onto the track and the race won't finish because the
game still thinks they are running! The only way to get out of the race in
this situation is to abandon it. That is the problem the original poster is
referring to I think.

What is wrong with the AI in this game?
I was racing in Brazil - rain starts, Mika H goes into the pits <presumably
for wets>. Everyone else goes in next lap.
Ok, fine. Then, Mika is in *AGAIN* the following lap, and *AGAIN* 2 laps
later.
What is up with this? His car had no problems whatsoever. After the race, I
check the 'lap' chart - sure enough, about 1/3 of the cars pitted between 3
and 4 times between laps 15 and 20!!!!!!
Hopefully this will be addressed in a patch. Also, the '1 car shape fits
all' shows that the designers were lazy with this one. Hopefully they will
iron it out. We also need the ability to custom map our selection for
up/down shifting on the keyboard.
I've seen it a similar happen once where Mika went into the pits at Suzuka
and just got stuck there so the race couldn't finish.

Having seen this before, I think it's a problem with tyre
choice. I get the impression that the AI absolutely *hate*
to be on the track with the 'wrong' tyre choice, even if it
means pitting with only a lap or two to go.
Maybe in your case it started off a bit dry, then it got
a bit wet with rain, then it either got even wetter or
slightly drier. For the AI cars, this would require
a few pit stops.
Dumb, isnt it?

I used to watch this happen in GP2 also (minus rain of course). Crash
out of the race, watch the other cars, lots of funny things happen in
the pits.
