GD spammers, STFU!

Flame warArgument over reposting spam in the newsgroup
A user replied to a spam message by quoting it in full, and Barton Brown chided him for reposting it and suggested complaining to hosts instead. The user responded with insults and claims about his credentials, and others criticised his behaviour. A later post invoked free speech.

Do you imagine for even a moment that spammers actually read what they
post in newsgroups, let alone responses?
Instead of pissing and moaning about spam, and then treating us all to a
complete repost, why not complain to the proper hosts, which in this
case would be:
[email hidden]
[email hidden]
[email hidden]
And please, kibitzers, don't bother to moan about how "this doesn't do
any good", "nobody gives a rats when you complain" -- that's just not
so, and it's been proven time and again. It's especially good to send a
copy of spam to [email hidden], as the Federal Trade Commission builds
files against repeat-offender hosts and actually does police them
eventually. This applies as well to foreign posting hosts, who are
usually even more eager to rid their rolls of spammers.
Doing nothing does nothing, reposting the entire SPAM and then whining
about it just exacerbates the problem and gets the spam double exposure,
reporting the spam by tracking it to its REAL source with a tool like:
http://combat.uxn.com
and reporting it to the hosts involved eventually does something. So do
nothing and let it proliferate, whine and repost and HELP it
proliferate, or use a "whois" program like the one above and report it.
Which option of the three do you think has ANY chance of reducing spam?
OMG am i laughing my fucking ass of at that reply.....here i'll repost it 3
times, will you bitch at that too!!!?? jeez
i could care less to hear a lecture, who the hell do you think you are?

No, but I know 5200 reposted words when I see 'em (you reposted 260+
words this time), and I know what *might* work and what absolutely
doesn't. Let me repeat -- put your finger under each word and mouth them
as you go along slowly -- what absolutely doesn't work is to piss and
moan about spam in here, as if the geek that posted it is going to read
it and feel remorse. There are plenty of tools on the Web to identify
paths and originating IPs, and then you can send the full-header
messages back to the responsible organizations -- takes no more time
than crafting a useless whine in here, and it might actually DO
something about the spammer. Contrary to popular opinion, the vast
majority of spammers are amateur dipsticks who will only jump ISPs so
many times before they run out of enthusiasm.
Wise up or shut up.

I was fairly PO'd at the time, not everybody is perfect.
also, reporting a spammer has nothing to do with my posting at all, how do
you know that i DO not report them? I've certainly done so in the past,
with my ISP and web site host.

So you need someone to tell you to behave, or otherwise you DON'T
behave?
That is indeed very mature, yes...

You're right - nobody knows you. But think about this saying:

Not that they're real anyway. Spamming has become an art much like hacking
