Hi Chris,
You need to make a backup of your GPL folder .. say "gpl.save". Then
reinstall GPL to the "gpl" folder. Now copy "gpl.save" files over top of
the "gpl" files. You need to do this because of registry entries lost
during the reinstall of Windows.
I'm going to have the same problem because I re-installed my system, but
haven't gotten around to testing GPL yet.
Jason.

Howdy,
Here's my story. I installed a couple of new dashes with body shapes
into GPL last week. One or two of them obviously didn't agree with my
hardware combo and GPL wouldn't load any tracks. Saved my extra
tracks, season files and my driver profile, reinstalled GPL, did the
1.2 patch and the disco fix, then added in the extras and dashes one-by-
one to make sure each one wasn't causing me any problems. Got
everything hunkey-dorey and then GPL starts crashing out of race and
practice sessions. Found out THAT was because of Win98. My computer
started crashing from Windows and then stopped booting entirely about
1/2 hour later because of a corrupt registry.
So... I formatted my C: drive and, after one format lockup and three
Windows install routine crashes, reinstalled Win98 (did I mention that
I'm really frustrated with Microsoft right now?). Installed DirectX
7.0a and all Windows recommended critical updates and the newest VooDoo
drivers for my V3-3000 card. Reinstalled my DSL software and
everything's OK.
I've learned from Windows in the past so all my games were installed in
a separate partition of my hard drive. I didn't lose my GPL
installation or VROC. GPL works just fine off-line and I started up
WinVROC and it works fine. Here's the rub: when I join a race from
WinVROC, GPL starts, goes through the first start up screens then boots
me just as the multiplayer screen should be showing up. I discovered
that I needed the core.ini file because I'd not backed it up from my
previous GPL re-installation. Turned the core.ini.sample into my
core.ini, changed the "alternate ip address lookup" to 1 and gave it
another go. Still nothing.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I may be missing? Would
reinstalling GPL likely take care of it?

Hey Chris,
Just a guess, make sure it's CORE.INI instead of CORE.INI.INI....

Thanks. I'll check it tonight.

Windows registry.

(N3, GPL, Fun Run Just about EVERY program writes to the registry Chris..in lots and lots of
little places. You'd be suprised how many times a game can have lines and
lines stashed away in the registry.
