Was it awesome or what??
Where did ya sit??
I was right next to the big Shell logo painted in the grass... pretty much
right where everyone was going off into the grass.

Hmmm, a bit of both. Actually, I'm very much glad I went. But not enough to
go for the renewal. I don't like the way you have to accept a renewal while
petitioning for an upgrade. If I could lock into the area I'd like to be
(near the new turn 1), I'd consider signing up again. But even so, it's hard
to commit a full year in advance. I guess that's why there were so many seats
being offered at face value on the net (and reportedly under list on raceday).
As to the race, my second F1 GP, it was an excellent time. I am totally
enthralled (as before) with the sound. As others have said here, it has to be
heard. It and a modern fighter at full afterburner are just the most amazing
sounds. Is this a guy thing??
The race itself was quite decent. Though after Mika blew up, the win was a
foregone conclusion. Still, a good race in mid-pack. Overall, the track and
IMS aquitted themselves quite nicely. Races and other events were well
organized.

Short chute (between traditional turns 1 & 2). Good for the TV, but not much
else. On Saturday, I did wander all over and got great views. If I lived in
the area, I'd just get Gen Adm for Saturday.

That berm was supposed to be a good spot. How early did you get there to get
a good spot?
It was my first F1 race, and I loved it. The cars were much louder than I
thought they'd be... TV does not come close to conveying the power and
sounds. I sat in the paddock (along the pit side of the straight but neat
the end by turn1). It was good for seeing the cars down the straight and
into turn one, but that's about it. I already put in for an upgrade and
plan to come back next year.

I was in the infield section turns 8,9 and 10 and it was great. Definetily
going next year, might even try and make the montreal race (live in
Rochester, NY so it would be much closer!)

Walked around Fri & Sat, Tower Terrace on Sunday. Sat under the TV screen so I
could not see it :-( Great view of the start and cars drafting (towing) down
the straight and the sound of the cars and crowd was awesome.
Prices at the track were reasonable for entry and merchandise, but for the price
of hotel, transportation and travel (from Calif.) I could have bought a new top
of the line gaming system :-P
Track layout looked a lot like in F12K. I felt like I new what it was like to
drive it.
Also too bad the Historic cars did not get to run on Sunday. I think the rain
and schedule did not allow it.

race, showed up for the warm-up, limited view, NO TV!!!, good look into the
pit garages though. Waited til 10:30 and bought seats off a scalper (through
the fence no less) in section h (at the end of the straight at turn 1) for
62.50 US... ticket face value was 85.00... two guys behind us paid 40 each.
Definately worth getting a seat there, just to see JV try to pass HHF neaar
the end.
Amazing facility, no *REAL* beer after friday... Mmmmmm Brickyard Burgers (I
must have eaten 7 or 8 over the weekend, one for breakfast on sunday). We
drove 2 motorhomes down from toronto and parked just across the street from
the track... gate 7 area.
My first F1 race, well worth the aggro.
James.
ps. Bruce, I'm sending you the ticket for the seat I didn't sit in on Sunday.
Post to Oz... two weeks?

I was there, too, and it was a great time. Our seats were in Stand D (on the
main straight between start-finish and F1's turn one), very poor. We spent
the first two days near turn one. See my long post in a different thread
describing the whole experience.

Wow, what an experience! I had wanted seats down in Stand H or C to be
close to turn 1, (I did get to sit there on Saturday) but my race seats
wound up being in the Paddock opposite the indy pits. Unfortunately,
the seats were 2nd row from the top so the TVs were all blocked by the
Paddock roof. I'll definately be back next year as I doubt I'll be able
to get to Monza or Spa by then. Having seen Indycar and Winston Cup and
KNOWING that it was going to be loud, I was still amazed at just how
loud those cars are.
