Alex,
I have never been accused of being average or normal :o) but I agree
with your Nascar Heat takes. I have heard, though, that the
drivers.txt file can be altered to allow for less consistant AI driving
(more AI induced crashes and spins). I haven't had a chance to try it
out myself though.

Before you buy.
I'm sorry, I'm still waiting on the "Psycotic Freak's" opinion on the game
before I decide to purchase it.
Hi all,
I have been playing the game with the new patch for a few days now and here
is my take on it.
In the interest of simplicity I will just number my comments and make things
short and sweet.
Things that still need tweaking/fixing gameplay specific..
1. Damage Model. When I hit the wall at high speed the car should pretty
much be toasted. Maybe a wheel flies off. The same goes with the AI, they
are very strong and seem to never get a DNF or slow down from damage. I know
the game is "suppose" to be for "everyone" and that is fine. But that is
also what options are for. Easy is for Arcade players. Expert is FULL sim
mode. N3 does this well along with many other sims.
2. AI. The AI never gets into wrecks on it's own, I have played 5 full
races, 2 at Daytona 1 at Atlanta and 2 at Tallagega and not one crash or
spin from the AI at all. Also when pitting the AI follows each other like an
unstoppable train along the exact same path into the pits, looks kinda fake.
The AI is very "unstoppable train like" during a yellow flag and
indestructible as they ram into you trying to get back into position.
They also seem to want to pit all at the same time quite a bit. No pit
strategies here, all the same.
3. Hitting a car on the drivers side produces no sounds at all, and is
inconsistent from the other side and front and back. It should be a bit
louder as well.
4. More Yellow flags thrown. If I don't cause one it just never happens.
5. In game multiplyer setup screen.
That's all I can think of right now :-)
It comes down to I want as much realism in the game as possible. I cannot
see why this cannot be done to make everyone happy.
Like I said this is what options are for.
The PC is a gaming machine for thinkers and simmers imo, if Arcade players
want their fun go buy a console. Seems silly to spend 3000 + bucks on a
Computer and use it for Arcade games.. IMO :-)
Thanks
Define normal. :-)

Well, I like it, so now you can buy it :)
Andre
I'm just so impressed with the physics (Hardcore) that I rarely even notice
anything else. Awesome game (sim).

situations
are covered. BUT...it is not a better racing sim. Heat IMO is the best
Nascar title out right now. But it has major deficiencies when compared to
the mature platform of Nascar Racing 3. For example: Stopping work on
repairs while in the pits, You can do that in N3, but not NH. Other cars
causing wrecks...some in N3, possibly editable(new word!) in NH.
Damage in N3 stays with you. Even when repaired in the pits, you will
always
be slower. With NH, after an extended pitstop, you are back to 100%.
But the real question you "should" have asked is...
Name another Nascar title that DRIVES as well as Heat? And because NH has
the better driving model(physics) it is a better product in my opinion.
We probably will have to repeat this discussion when N4 comes out.

In this case normal being a guy (me) who does not play many games on his
computer. Nor do many of my friends.
But when I (we) do I (we) want realism. Arcade games are for Arcades and
kids.
They would have all bought Nascar Heat if it was more real. At least real as
possiable.
Fun is thinking.
Thanks

This one bugs me the most at the moment. I have yet to see the AI
wreck or spin on its own since I bought the game, it just doesn't
happen! They also need to address the AI under yellows, I still get
ramed from behind way to much.
Otherwise a great sim though, the driving model can't be beat.

This is one thing I would really like to see as well. Maybe a yellow
for "debris" or something every once and a while.
Agree with you 100%, and REALLY hope that Nascar 4 is the final word
in BOTH realism and physics modeling. My guess is it will be, and with
the already imbedded Internet Multiplayer its a full package..
