I got this somewhere and saved it. Whoever did it, thanks. :-) I hope that
it helps.
NASCAR RACING 3 TRUCK PACK
CONVERTING N3 TRACKS FOR N3 TRUCKS
For our example we are going to convert the N3 IMS track into the
truck format. This will work on any N3 track regardless of the author.
There are two (2) areas of concern. The track text file and the
track directory (folder).
Our first area will be the N3 IMS track directory (folder). Here
we simply need to copy some files. The new files will be used when
racing in the CRAFTSMAN truck series. There are always four (4) in
every track. They are the "default.st1", "race.st1", "qual.st1", and
the "records.txt" files.
COPY: default.st1 TO default.tt1
race.st1 TO race.tt1
qual.st1 TO qual.tt1
records.txt TO rectruk.txt
Now the next set of files to be copied are the ".stg" files. Most of
us have our own setups we use to race along with the ones supplied to
us by Papyrus. So the number of files is not important only that you
copy over all of your ".stg" files.
COPY: ace.stg TO ace.ttg
easy.stg TO easy.ttg
qual.stg TO qual.ttg
If you have one called race or indy or bob, copy them also. That
would be it for the IMS track directory (folder).
The second area we need to look at is the N3 IMS.TXT file located in
the IMS track directory (folder). Using "Note pad" or some other text
editor, open the "ims.txt" file. Here again we need to add four (4)
lines to the file for the trucks. Look for the "SPDWY","BLAP","RELS",
and the "TIRES" lines in the text file. We are going to insert a line
after each. The "SPDWY" line comes first. So after the "SPDWY 0 37 41"
line insert "SPDWT 0 45 47" as this will tell the trucks when to pit.
They seem to do a little better on tires and fuel then the cars.
SPDWY 0 37 41
SPDWT 0 45 47
In the case of the "BLAP" line insert after "BLAP 36500" a line
"BLAPT 38000". This number is different in every track and our numbers
are only examples. The number is in seconds as for "BLAP" 36.5 seconds.
This number is used by the Winston Cup and BUSCH cars. The "BLAPT"
number is 38.0 seconds and should always be a bit larger as the
trucks are slower then the cars on every track.
BLAP 36500
BLAPT 38000
The "RELS" line is next. Insert under this one the "RELST" line. This
is the strength of the cars and trucks. The "RELS 105" is for the cars
and the "RELST 103" for the trucks. In this case the "RELTS" line is
a little lower then the "RELS" because the trucks are again slower.
RELS 105
RELST 103
The "TIRES" line is next. Insert under this one the "TIRET" line. This
is the tire ware of the cars and trucks. The "TIRES" is for the cars
and the "TIRET" for the trucks. In this case the "TIRET" line you
should adjust the first number of each series down a small percentage
below the "TIRES" because the trucks have less down force.
TIRES 72129 5200 74000000 72129 4200 82000000 0
TIRET 60000 4500 81000000 60000 4500 44000000 0
Thats all we need to do in the "ims.txt" file. Write the file and
exit out.
What do you need to do to make the track load for trucks? It works fine for
cars. Thanks.
