I greatly appreciate having these public hosts available, and have a couple requests: Please host more Novice length races -- this encourages us novices to finish races and also reduces frustrations associated with modem disconnects, a major problem for most of us. And please please run fewer monza races, even *sigh* monaco is preferable. rms [email hidden]

What's wrong with Monza? It's still one of most favorite circuits for online racing. And why do you think it's being hosted so much? :) Andre
They host it up a lot because it is a simple track that everyone knows. The track lacks rhythm and gets boring after a while of playing GPL, though. Too many straights, not enuff turns (4 braking turns). Only 1 of those turns is a fast balance the car on the edge turn. The other 3 are "use as much throttle without getting wheelspin" turns. Since there are only 4 braking turns, a new person has little to memorize and thus likes the track. There ARE other tracks out there and they are a blast to drive and race on. Sure, they take more skill, but are also more rewarding. A reason people like racing at monza is the fact that they can screw up a turn, and get a draft on the long ass straights to catch up. So once again, a new person has fun because he doesn't have to work to catch back up to someone. Personally, I enjoy working hard to catch up to someone. It gives me something to push for. I also like variation in my turns, so I go away from monza. Well that is my long report on why Monza is used a lot on VROC and why veteran GPLers move away from it. Ok, what races DO people want? Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +50.77 Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.

Sears Point! The long version from N2, not the 'chute' version from N3. Andre >Eldred

Kyalami, Mosport, Zandvoort. Technical circuits, and, unlike a certain other circuit, I still remember the layout after a week of not playing GPL (hey, don't slag me for this!). -Gregor

I'll have to see if I've converted that one yet... I don't think I have.
I guess you aren't as "novice" as I am. I seek out Monza races on VROC, as it's the only circuit I can drive with relative confidence. I still can't seem to get into the 1:20's, but heck, at least I can run a few laps without spinning/crashing... Keep those Monza races going!!! I would love to improve my skills and drive the other circuits online, but I only get a few hours each week to "practice" GPL, so my skills are not improving quickly. I'm afraid I'd just get in others' way if I drove the other courses. -PS n article <Eeyu5.1239$[email hidden]>, "Roger Squires" <[email hidden]> wrote: > I greatly appreciate having these public hosts available, and have acouple > requests: Please host more Novice length races -- this encourages us > novices to finish races and also reduces frustrations associated withmodem > disconnects, a major problem for most of us. Put in some laps at Spa, and you will be rewarded with much happiness! SLG [email hidden] wrote:
