Wheel question potpourri

2 posts by 2 people · 21 Aug 2000 - 21 Aug 2000 18:27 UTC

Considering buying a wheel - here's a couple or 3 Q's: 1. The Microsoft Sidewinder non-FF USB wheel - does it support dual axis brake/gas? What is the reporting range of the various inputs (0 to 255, 0 to 655, 0 to 1023?) 2. With a FF wheel, if you leave it plugged in, but disable FF in the game, do you still get the frame rate hit? Does the wheel operate silently and smoothly, or is it instead like you unplugged the wheel? 3. How loud is the Guillemot FF wheel when it is producing FF effects? Does it vibrate the desk when you drive over the grass? How about other wheels? thanks -- Doug Appleyard "Got us a Dirt Track Date, demolition derby figure 8" -- Southern Culture On The Skids Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I'm about half-way thru my 2nd desk with the Guillemot, seriously! I've even knocked it down to about 75% strength but its still shaking the hell out of it! Don't really wanna lower it any more at the mo, but I'm gonna make sure the next desk I get is absolutly rock-solid (anyone know where I can get a titanium desk <vbg>) Oh, might be an idea to get some weights while your at it, Couple of laps round the 'Ring at my gpl skill level leaves my arms aching, and I used to be a drayman.
