I've just bought a Voodoo 3 2000 AGP to replace my Voodoo2 but whenever I
start GPL the display flickers terribly plus the mouse leaves a trail across
the screen in the main menu .
When I start in software mode the problem vanishes . To try to cure the
problem I re-installed GPL but the problem persists. I'm still using the
original drivers supplied with the card , they're dated 27/8/99 and I've
deleted all the old V2 & ATI drivers .
I seem to recall from previous posts about V3s something being mentioned
about V-Sync . I've searched everywhere in display properties but can't find
any reference to this plus re-installed DX7a .
Please help if you can or I'll have to refit the V2
Andrew
The V3 is about the most compatible card out there (I have one) so you
should be able to get it working. Since you've had two different vidcards
in there previously that's almost certainly your problem.
Download the latest drivers from www.3dfxgamers.com and before installing
them delete voodoo*.inf 3dfx*.inf glide*.* 3dfx*.* from windows/inf and
windows/system and all the *.inf and driver files for the ati card. Then
install the v3 drivers.

These two tweaks should address known display issues and cure your
problem.
1) Patch GPL to 1.2
2) Disable "Force Tripple Buffering" in the 3DFX settings applet.
If you're sitll having problems, try newer drivers.
