Just a warning to those of us who thought this demo ran super fast on our
systems. The in-game benchmarking is slightly misleading since the 3d dash
view is much slower then the benchmark.
I still love NH but I'm a little less secure that I can run a full field at
acceptable fps. I'll still play it with a smaller field, however, since
this game is just terrific.
Here's my system and what I did:
PIII600e@672
V5 5500 using 2xFSAA
128 MB Ram
Tested using in-game benchmark button and using FRAPS to measure actual
gameplay FPS at Daytona at night with 16 cars starting at the back of the
field:
1024x768: All details HIGH including mirrors (ALL) and high detail cars:
Benchmark: 41 fps
In Game: 24-30 fps
800x600: Same as above EXCEPT Draw distance and Details clicked down one
notch and High detail cars OFF:
Benchmark: 55 fps
In-game: 36-40 fps
The in-game fps at 800x600 is encouraging since it looks almost as good as
the other setting and shouldn't drop too far with a bigger field. I just
hope I can run a full field with 22-25 fps at the start. If so, I think
this game will live up to the early predictions of great physics, great
graphics, good AI and solid fps from day one on a high end system.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to. I wouldn't worry too much on your system,
it will only be a question of how much you have to turn off.
