I'm a newbie to GPL and am in the midst of getting all the patches,
figuring out the basics of setups and trying in general to stay on the
track (singular) and pointed in the right direction.
So that I may get some sense of racing are there any sites with race
replay files for d/l? I've collected hot laps for the various tracks but
would love to see some real racing. Any info or site URL's will be
greatly appreciated.
Most of my Formula racing attention in the 60's was focused during the
first half of the decade. In 1967 my attention was on the GT racing and
the big battle between Ford and ferrari (with Porche routinely taking
the next 12 places <g>). Are there any plans to model that type of
racing in that period? I'd love to practice on GT40's, work up to MkII's
and then take out the hugely powerful MkIV's!
Of course, I better get some more time in on GPL first. ;-)
The Fords and Ferraris of that period are available for SCGT from The Pits
(www.theuspits.com) but there's little chance of them appearing in GPL. At
least until someone like Dave Noonan gets tired of producing new tracks and
looks for a new challenge...

Race replays are pretty large downloads, but if you want to see
some replays of intermediate long races, you could do worse than
go to http://www.ukgpl.com go to the replays section, select the
2000 season replays and try some of the Division 1 races.
The replays are split into 5-6 parts, you download all parts and
double click the .exe file to unpack them.
Most of these replays are from the race server, which shows all the
cars in the race, unlike clients replays which only show a few cars in
front of the driver and one behind.

Mike Hortons site has league replays for download. They used to be
updated about every week. http://www.bus.nait.ab.ca/staff/mikeh/gpl/
Sounds like you would like the F3's then work up to the F2's, then
finally run the F1's. Take a look at the Zero Gee News
http://bovineracing.com/zgnews.htm In the "Racing Reports" page is a great
article, "Why Bother with the little cars?" By Mark Seery. It's a very good
read and hopefully you'll agree with him ;-)

That's "Sports Car GT"? I think I have seeen that. What years
is the boxed game built around? Is it any good? How much cpu
to run it? Ok, that's all the Q's for now. :)

Thanks! I have ADSL and lots of drive space so file size is not an issue
for me.

1. 1998 / 99 I think (or there abouts)
2. It is pretty good....best sports car game until WSC in 2001
3. Doesnt need much to run well - video card is probably more
important.....runs well on a p2-300 with TNT2.....probably less would be
good too.
4. It only costs 9.99 ....worth the money and is in some of the "best
games" compilations for about 9.99 with 4 other good games.

patched (the patches are to big for me to bother downloading at 56k) but out
of the box it's fairly arcadish, the CPU requirements are modest (OK on my
Celeron 450). There are an awful lot of add-ons available.
