Still battling away with the compy, here, and it's now developed a new
fault. Figure this one out, if you can!
When connected to the net, data transfer stops when "pressure" is put on it,
i.e. when hosting online, or when downloading a file. The only way to get
data transfer again is to disconnect and reconnect. Some points to note: We
had a guy from the phone company fiddling about with the box a few days ago,
also had a bit of a storm the same night. I *think* it's been since then
that this started, but they came out again today to test the line for noise,
gain, pretty much everything and could find no fault, so I'm assuming it's
something in my soon-to-be-set-alight-with-a-flamethrower computer.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled it (the modem), I'm under-cooking it to get
a steady 33,600 (instead of 56k).
I know there's no data transfer because I put the little box from system
tray up and the numbers won't budge, and will not until I reconnect.
Wish I'd taken up cocaine when I had the chance - help me, please,
someone???

What OS are you running? Does it have the latest winsock, etc?

I recently had
to attend to this with an internal netcomm, can't remember what model.
I removed it, put it in another slot and re-loaded the drivers, couldn't get
it to fail after I did this.
If you are using an external modem then it can't be a software one. Try
another modem.
