Do fast GPL drivers like Grand Prix 3?

A poster asked whether anyone with a negative GPLRank handicap liked GP3. Answers were mixed, with some fast drivers enjoying it and others calling it a big disappointment. A side debate covered whether taking Eau Rouge flat in GP3 is unrealistic, with Richard Clegg noting it is possible with enough wing.

Generalizations again. Tsk, tsk... Wrong. There are some very good drivers who like it.... I think I am at least *reasonable* at GPL (Spa, anyway - into the 3:17s now :-) ), and I don't hate GP3. I don't like it as much as I wanted to - it's got clunky graphics, poor sound and no real advances over GP2 - but I won't be returning it. As I said elsewhere, I'd give it 75% or so, as it's a good game, but could (and should) have been a new benchmark. GPL2.5 is what it is. -- David. As you say, any driver who puts enough wing on can take Eau Rouge flat no problem. Exactly how much wing you would need to take off to make it a heroic feat would be difficult to say. All this stuff about "taking Eau Rouge flat" only applies to low downforce settings. If you have low downforce then it's tricky to take flat (but possible - villeneuve does it). -- Richard G. no he doesnt -- he and zonta both tried it last year and are lucky to be alive.... its not really a downforce thing its more to do with the wieght transfer forward when you let off or brake. This allows the front wheels to get round without massive understeer--- I dont think an F1 car with almost full wing would do the 130r flat..... I guess you forgot about Villeneuve last year in practice when he rolled his car at Eau Rouge. Flat out through that section is almost non existant. Richard G Clegg wrote:

<grin> I tried Monaco in GPL last night, just to test out my new FF wheel. It's my least favourite circuit in any racing sim/game... I drove slowly enough to stay on the track, all right. My lap time was 2:36... :(:(:( I've never been able to see the appeal of Monaco as a venue. Martin D. Pay Who finds in general that a good FF wheel actually does make GPL slightly more manageable...
